1. Alessandra is of Italian and Polish Descent

she was born on April 11, 1981 in Erechim, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil to Lucilda and Luiz Ambrosio. Her parents are Brazilian with Italian and Polish ancestry.

She has a younger sister Aline Ambrosio and her paternal grandmother Joana Eugenia Groch was an immigrant from Poland who arrived in Brazil as a child in 1929 and died in 2017, aged 93.

When she turned 12, she enrolled on a modelling class and at the age of 14, she was one of 20 finalists for the 1995 Elite Model Look national competition for Brazil.

2. Alessandra Ambrosio Owns Her Fashion Lines

She launched her brand of swimwear called Alessandra Ambrosio by Sais in 2014, a division of Rosa Cha. The brand sold 10,000 units in its first month on the market.

In the spring of 2014, Alessandra launched her fashion and lifestyle brand named Ale by Alessandra in collaboration with American retailer Cherokee. The line feature casual wear to formal attire.

The apparel was first shown by Southern California-based retailer Planet Blue. For this brand, she used her intellectual property company, Silver Sunrise LLC, which works with Cherokee as its global licensing agent.

In March 2019, Alessandra started her beachwear brand GAL Floripa in partnership with her sister, Aline Ambrosio and her childhood friend Gisele Coria.

It is a bohemian fashion label that mixes Malibu chic and Brazil Bohemia. The brand offers a variety of feminine clothing, such as outwear and swimwear and the style is perfect for any tropical vacation attire.

3. Alessandra Had Surgery to Pin Back her Wide Ears

Alessandra was always insecure about her large years. She performed cosmetic surgery to have her ears pinned back so that she could find more success as a model. However, two years later, she had a complication and underwent mini-surgeries.

While speaking to Edit Magazine, she shared about the decision to have surgery 鈥� I found this doctor in my hometown of Erechim in Brazil who had only done it once before, so I was a guinea pig. The first few nights, it felt like someone had cut off my ears. For a year, I had to go back for mini-surgeries.鈥�

4. Alessandra Modeling Career was a Success

At 12-year Alessandra took modelling classes and began modelling for Dilson Stein at age 15. Her first notable modelling job was shooting the cover of Brazilian Elle magazine.

She had appeared in advertising campaigns for Christian Dior, Gucci, Hugo Boss, and Dolce & Gabbana, among many others. She also walked the catwalks for designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Lacroix, Ralph Lauren, and Louis Vuitton, among many others.

Alessandra appeared on several international magazine covers such as Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Elle, GQ, Harper鈥檚 Bazaar, and Vogue. He was the only model to appear on the cover of Glamour in the United States in 2006.

She became the face of Brazilian sportswear brand Colcci costarring with Ashton Kutcher in a denim ad. On August 12, 2012, she appeared in the 2012 Summer Olympic closing ceremony representing the Brazilian fashion tradition on the handover segment to Rio de Janeiro City.

Alessandra was selected by the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) together with fellow Brazilian model Adrian Lima as the Channel鈥檚 food and culture correspondents for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

5. Alessandra Made Several Appearances on Television and in Films

She made several television appearances on The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn, HBO鈥檚 Entourage, and was a guest judge on Project Runway Season2: Team Lingerie. She appeared twice on The Tyra Banks Show and America鈥檚 Next Top Model in the series鈥� 20th cycle.

Alessandra made her first acting debut in the Brazilian telenovela Verdades Secretas, which Premiered on Rede Globo on June 8, 2015, playing the role of top model Samia. She also appeared in the 2016 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

6. She Worked for Victoria’s Secret

Victoria is known as American lingerie, beauty and clothing for high visibility marketing, with a popular catalogue followed by an annual fashion show with supermodels dubbed Angel.

In 2006, Alessandra was appointed as the first spokesmodel for the Victoria鈥檚 Secret 鈥淧INK鈥� line. She walked the Victoria鈥檚 Secret Fashion Show runway putting on lingerie made out of candy 2015.

In the 2008 edition of the Victoria Fashion show, Alessandra walked the runway three months after giving birth to her first child and opened the show the following year in 2009.

In the 2011 show, Alessandra wore the heaviest wings (30lb, 14kg) ever made for the show and high heels while pregnant with her second child.

After the Victoria鈥檚 Secret Fashion Show in 2017, Alessandra posted on her Instagram that she would retire after 17 Victoria鈥檚 Secret Fashion Shows.

7. Alessandra Ambrosio Wore the Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra

In 2012 was chosen to wear the fantasy bra. The Floral Fantasy Bra, crafted by London Jewelers, featured amethysts, rubies, sapphires and diamonds all set in rose and yellow gold and adorned with more than 5,200 precious stones.

She wore the Dream Fantasy Bra again in 2014, alongside fellow model Adriana Lima. Both of the bras cost $2.5 million each.

8. Alessandra is an Activist

Alessandra is passionate about doing good and making positive changes in the world. She became an ambassador for a New York based non-profit organization National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The organization provides education, advocates for political and social change and sponsors different services that help people with several Sclerosis.

9. She Has Been Cited by Media as One of The Worlds Sexiest Woman

On more than one occasion, Alessandra has been mentioned by popular media as one of the world鈥檚 sexiest women. She was chosen as one of the Peoples magazine鈥檚 annual 鈥� 100 Most Beautiful People in the World鈥� in May 2007.

Alessandra got engaged to American businessman Jamie Mazur founder of RE/DONE jeans, in 2008. They have two children, a son and a daughter, Anja Louise and Noah Phoenix. On March 27, 2018, Alessandra announced that she split with Mazur.
