Botswana is without a doubt one of the most spectacular wilderness areas on the planet. The Kalahari Desert and lunar-like pans at Nxai and Makgadikgadi can be found in the south and east. The dazzling water worlds of the Okavango Delta and Chobe River ecosystem, on the other hand, can be found in the north and west.

1 Mpule Kwelagope

Mpule Keneilwe Kwelagobe, a Motswana model and beauty queen from Gaborone, Botswana, was crowned Miss Universe in Trinidad and Tobago in May 1999. Mpule has been recognized and honoured as a human health rights activist since she was crowned Miss Universe in 1999, particularly for her fight against HIV/AIDS and advocacy for youth and women to have greater access to sexual reproductive education and services. This is amazing as she uses a title to advocate for a worthy cause and thus ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS have access to medicine and are also well cared for.
2 Amantle Montsho
She is a female sprinter from Botswana who specialises in 400-metre races. In 2004 and 2008, Montsho represented her country in the Summer Olympics. She reached the finals in the 2008 Olympics. She then went on to compete at the IAAF World Indoor Championships and the World Championships in Athletics. Here she won the 400-metre race and set a personal best of 49:50 for herself.
The athlete has won other races including the 2007 All-Africa Games, the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the 2010 IAAF Continental Cup. It was during the Commonwealth Games that she won the first gold medal for the country in the games. Furthermore, the athlete holds the national record for both indoor and outdoor games.
3 Sir Seretse Khama

Seretse is a politician from Botswana. He was also the first president of the country and he is lauded for transforming the country’s economy from one of the poorest in the continent to a successful economy. Born into a royal family, the statesman received his education in South Africa and the United Kingdom. He then came back home to lead his country into independence.
He founded the Botswana Democratic Party in 1962 and he became the prime minister in 1965. After the country gained its independence, he became the first president of Botswana. It was during this time that people saw rapid social progress.
4 Dipsy Sesolwane
Diphetogo “Dipsy” Selolwane is a Botswana midfielder for the University of Pretoria, a club in the South African Premier Soccer League. Serolwane initially played for Botswana Premier League side Gaborone where he played for United. After playing college football at St. Louis University and being named to the All-American First Team in 2001, Dipsy was drafted 36th overall by the Chicago Fire in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft. Serrowane was traded to Real Salt Lake after the 2004 MLS season, but was ineffective and was sacked during the 2005 season.
In his limited four-year tenure in the MLS, he scored three goals. He returned to Africa, first to Botswana and then to the South African Premier Football League. In his first PSL, his club was Santos but in 2006/07 he moved to Jomo Cosmos after a very disappointing season. He signed for Ezenkosi in his 2007/08 season, but he only played twice and in early 2008 Ajax he joined Cape Town. His PSL career blossomed at Ajax where he turned midfielder and in July 2010 he joined league champions Supersport
5 Constance Ferguson

She is a South African-based actress, filmmaker, producer and businesswoman from Botswana. She is best known for her role as ‘Kalabo Moroka’ in South Africa’s most popular soap opera ‘Generations’, where she starred in the show from its beginning in 1994 to its end in 2010. She briefly reprised her role on the show in 2014 after a four-year absence. Ferguson graced the cover of Forbes Woman her Africa magazine in 2018. Furthermore, the businesswoman launched her perfume and lotion line in 2018.
6 Karabo Sampson
Kabo Sampson was crowned Miss Botswana in 2011 at the Gaborone International Convention Centre. The beauty queen is the only daughter and she has two other siblings. She is well known for her title ‘beauty with brains’ after she answered the pageant questions eloquently and with a lot of confidence.
7 John Kamyuka
John Kamyuka is a Batswana swimmer who competed in the men’s 50m freestyle event at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He was one of the first two Olympic swimmers from his landlocked country, standing 175cm and weighing 72 kg. Despite failing to complete the 50m race in time, he was able to compete in the Olympics as a wild card. Swimming in the fifth heat of the 50m freestyle qualifications, he finished in 25.54 seconds, placing sixth in his heat and seventh overall.
8 Rod Freedman
He is an Australian filmmaker who was born in Botswana in 1951. The family moved to South Africa where he grew up. After realizing that living under the racist Apartheid system was abhorrent, the family decided to move to Australia. There, Rod studied film and television production and started his career as a documentary filmmaker.
9 Edwin Disang
Edwin Disang was a striker for the Botswana national team. Between 1999 and 2001, he was a member of Botswana’s national football team. He is currently the varsity boys soccer coach at Melbourne Central Catholic High School in Florida. In 2013, he won a regional championship and advanced to the state final four. His ability to coach well and see the pace of the game has made him an indispensable part of the football scene.
10 Ayesha Quraishi

The musical artist was born in Botswana to an Indian father and a Motswana mother. The Swedish-based artist owns a recording company known as Aqueen Entertainment. She has also been a host in one of the Swedish popular radio shows and has also co-hosted a music program known as Sommatoppen with Moggr Sseruwagi.
