Phantasialand is a brilliant theme park located in Bruhl, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The theme park was opened in 1967 by Gottlieb Loffelharft and Richard Schmidt.

Phantasialand is more frequented with approximately more than two million visitors touring this area annually. It was previously a family-oriented park but it later on transformed.

Phantasialand also added thrill rides which makes it more of a theme park rather than a family-oriented park. It followed the example of Europa-Park as the administrators decided to attract business customers too. Thus it is also called Business to Pleasure.

Phantasialand is strategically located in a small area, not like major theme parks across the world. The administrators have put more attention to detail in its teeming and introduced new attractions within.

It has always been voted as one of the best parks in the world. The Taron, the world’s fastest multi-launch coaster, black mamba (Bolliger and mabillard inverted coaster and themed Mine Train roller coaster are here. These coasters were officially opened by Michael Jackson.

1. Phantasialand was a Project of Two Individuals

Most theme parks across the world are always an idea of the municipal governments, but the Phantasialand is unique. It was opened in 1967 majorly as a family-oriented park but was later on transformed.

It was opened by two popular individuals in Germany. Gottlieb Loffelharft and Richard Schmidt were the initiators of the Phantasialand project.

2. Some Coasters at Phantasialand was Opened by Michael Jackson

Phantasialand is full of fun with thrilling rides and other sections of carrying out various activities. Some of the park’s thrilling rides include Taron which has been ranked as the world’s fastest multi-launch coaster.

The other coasters include Black Mamba and a themed Mine Train roller coaster known as Colorado Adventure. The Colorado Adventure runs through Phantasialand’s Wild West section. This coaster was officially opened by the late Michael Jackson.

3. Phantasialand has the World’s Fastest Multi-launch Coaster

Among the coasters in Phantasialand is the Taron which is a multi-launch steel roller coaster. This was the world’s fastest multi-launch coaster.

It was manufactured by Intamin and was opened on 30th June 2016. Taron is situated in the Klugheim area of Phantasialand.

This roller coaster is located in a Canyon of basalt rock at the edge of the village. Taron is also close to another family boomerang roller coaster.

4. The Park was Hit by a Fire that Destroyed Two Roller Coasters

Not all theme parks are safe from some risky things in business. On the 1st of May 2001, there was a fire disaster at the Phantasialand which destroyed two roller coasters.

Other than the two roller coasters, a theatre and parts of Westernstadt were also destroyed. The cause of the fire was a cable fire in the Grand Canyon Bahn that was faulty in wiring.

The fire incident damaged about 38 million Deutsche Mark which is approximately seventeen million United States dollars. Fifty-four people were injured in this fire incident and no fatality was announced.

5. Fire Safety Equipment Costing €2 Million were put at Phantasialand

The administrators and the German government had to act quickly to avoid another fire incident after the previous one that occurred on May 1st 2001. One of the precautions to be made is to install fire safety equipment in the park.

It cost around €2 million to install fire safety equipment in the park. Every building was equipped with sprinkling systems.

6. Phantasialand is Home to a Mystery Castle

The Phantasialand park is full of fun and breathtaking facilities that the visitors enjoy. Phantasialand is known to be the home of the Mystery Castle.

This is an indoor Intamin Ride Trade Bungee Drop which features a walk through a haunted castle. If one does not have the guts to endure going through this area, they are not encouraged to try.

Close to the Mystery Castle is the River Quest. This is a rapid river ride that features a lift built in 2002 by Hafeman. It was meant to replace the attractions that got destroyed by the fire in 2001.

7. A Chinese-Themed Hotel is Built-in Phantasialand

The Phantasialand park is full of amusing and cultural attractions which appreciate various diversities. There is a four-star hotel known as Hotel Ling Bao in Phantasialand park.

This hotel is Chinese-themed and was opened in 2004. The roof of Hotel Ling Bao was built with tiles that were imported directly from China.

There are also room doors which were hand-engraved. This hotel in Phantasialand had two restaurants within; the LU CHI and Matamba.
LU CHI is famously known for its Euro-Asiatic cuisine, the bar, pool with sauna, garden area, spa and its entrance to the park. Matamba is a three-star hotel which was opened in August 2008.

8. Phantasialand has a Suspended Top Spin in the Mexico Section

Phantasialand park has various sections which have various types of fun that attract all visitors. In 2007, the Talocan, a suspended top spin ride by Huss Maschinengabrik was opened.

This ride is located in the Mexican section of the park. The Talocan is among the most loved rides after Taron.

9. The Splash Battle in Phantasialand got Neighbours Complain of Noise Pollution

The fun and unique attractions in Phantasialand park usually make the visitors especially children enjoy themselves at the top of their voices. In 2008, a splash battle ride known as Wakobato was opened in the lake. This is located in the old fairytale forest.

This attraction has not been received well by the neighbours who live nearby. There has been debate and complaints that there is lots of noise pollution from this section of the park.

10. Phantasialand has the World’s First Flying Roller Coaster

Several renovations have been made over the years in various sections of Phantasialand park. In 2016, the Race for Atlantis area was removed to pave way for a new themed area.

The new area was called Rookburgh which was built with a roller coaster known as F.L.Y. This is the world’s first launched flying roller coaster.
It is also the longest flying roller coaster in the world. This section, Rookburgh and F.L.Y were opened to the public on 17th September 2020.

Phantasialand park has always been highly regarded as one of the best theme parks where children and even adults make memories. This park is always worth visiting and spending quality time with.
