The Best Acai Bowls in Barcelona

Acai is the Brazilian superfood that has migrated its way around the world thanks to its nutrient properties and health benefits. It is typically served in health cafes and vegan restaurants, in bowl-style topped with fresh fruits and granola.

Upon arriving in Barcelona I was pleased at how easy this frozen meal was to come by. I have a favorite acai spot in each neighborhood, these are a few of the best!

Green Berry in Barcelona

Green Berry is my ultimate for acai in Barcelona, but I don’t make it out to this part of the city as often as I would like. The south of Garcia is a hotspot for museums, Gaudi attractions and guided walking tours; those who call this city home don’t necessarily “hang out” here.

Their acai is traditional. What I mean by this is that they don’t blend it with a bunch of other ingredients to make their stock go further. You want acai, you get acai. They top their bowls with fresh berries, banana and delicious homemade granola.

Green Berry is one of few spots where you can eat acai late into the evening in Barcelona.

Vegan Bowls in Barcelona

Vegan Bowls is where all the fruitarians in Barcelona hang out every day. They are known for their very over the top fruit bowls that they pile high with fresh produce, their acai bowls included.

They are also known for their impressive vegan bakery where you can find everything from soft-baked cookies to donuts.

At Vegan Bowls you can order vegan burgers that use the Beyond Meat patties, something I’ve struggled to find around Barcelona.

Almalibre Açaí Bar in Barcelona

At Almalibre they serve your acai bowl with three toppings of your choice. At first glance of the list you might think three is not enough, but when the bowl arrives and you see the generous portioning you’ll understand.

This is thick, traditionally blended acai thats isn’t watered down to cut costs. Topping options include fresh fruits, granola, cereals, chocolate chips, dried berries and superfood seeds.

Brunch & Cake in Barcelona

For the most colorful foods in town, come to Brunch & Cake. Situated just behind the University of Barcelona, this is a hot spot for students and freelancers in the area. Because of this, prices in Brunch & Cake are also kept low.

Their acai is a breakfast treat and worth the thirty minute wait you’re likely to encounter at the door. The rest of the menu is comprised of vegan and vegetarian health foods that will actually blow your mind. I usually have acai as a starter here, then move on to something more hearty as a main.

Flexbowls in Barcelona

I came to Flexbowls in search of the best pancakes in Barcelona. I believe I found them, and also found some of the best acai bowls in the process.

This is a great refreshment spot, particularly if you’re between sight seeing or free guided walking tours around the old town. Service is quick, portions are generous and prices are relatively low.

Fitbar in Barcelona

Fitbar is where I run to for acai while sending the day on Barceloneta beach. It’s more of a grab-&-go type of place as opposed to a sit down cafe.

This also happens to be the most authentic, traditional acai in all of Barcelona. Unlike other cafes, Fitbar does not blend their acai berries with anything. They simply scoop the frozen puree as is, and top it off with whatever you like.

You’ll taste the difference immediately. There’s a reason why Brazilian travelers only eat here during their time in the city. A must-try for anyone who enjoys their acai.

Flax&Kale in Barcelona

After having acai at Fitbar, you’re going to be a harsh judge on any bowl that follows it. The acai at Flax&Kale is loosely blended and not as traditional as you now might like.

Nevertheless, the meal is still delicious and topped with their own granola and fresh fruits. The interior of this beautiful cafe also makes up for the average acai bowls.

One perk is that you can order them until closing at 11:30pm daily. Acai for dinner!

Copasetic in Barcelona

Last, but not least, I give you the latest-night dining option for acai in Barcelona. This spot stays open until midnight, serving their brunch foods for the duration of the day.

While their acai bowls are wonderful and worth the trip to Rocafort alone, their pancakes are something also not to be missed. Treat yourself: order both!
