Cheapest Places to Fly from Barcelona


 

Barcelona is a city on the coast of northeastern Spain. It is known for many things, including art, architecture, its football team, and tantalizing cuisine. Barcelona’s primary international airport is El Prat, located 12 kilometers southwest of the city.

Several top airlines operate here including Iberia, Etihad Airways, Vueling Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Ryanair. Some of the low-cost carriers are Ryanair and Vueling Airlines.

There is also the Reus Airport, 100 kilometers northeast of the city, and Girona-Costa Brava airport which is 90 kilometers north of Barcelona.

Sometimes you just want to have a weekend getaway real quick without having to spend just too much on a flight ticket. There are several airlines and sites to help you compare and get the best deal any time you want to catch a flight.

We have compiled some of the cheapest places to fly from Barcelona whenever you’re on a budget. Price estimates indicated are for a one-way ticket unless otherwise noted. They keep changing, so always check with your travel agent before booking, just in case.

1. London

If you’re in Barcelona, London is one of the top-perfect destinations for a long weekend getaway. It is less than 2 hours of flying time if you select a non-stop flight.

Some will opt for a stop or two. Some of these will include a layover at Palma Mallorca airport in Spain, or Billund Airport in Denmark.

 The duration of stops will vary, so flight time will depend on that. and airlines have some of the lowest costs on this one. You can compare fares on websites to find your best deal.

Enjoy London’s breathtaking historic sites such as Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace, or shop the weekend away at Harrod’s.

2. Madrid

Yet another fantastic destination from Barca. It is approximately one and a half hours away on a nonstop flight. Vueling and Iberia come up top on the best low-cost deals.

 Prices will often vary depending on the kind of flight you book. If you’re not opting for a non-stop flight, stops might include Ibiza or Palma Mallorca airport in Spain.

Madrid is Spain’s capital, and pretty much more than that. It is a haven for European art, and unsurprisingly, it is the seat of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

It has some of the most visited museums, including the famous Reina Sofia Museum, which houses 20th-century art. It has on display Pablo Picasso’s popular anti-war painting, the Guernica.

The Royal Palace of Madrid, the Royal Theatre, and the 17th-century Bueno Retiro Park are just some of the great sites to add to your itinerary soon as you land at the Barajas Airport.

3. Ibiza

Ibiza is an archipelago of Spain, spread out on the Mediterranean Sea. Famous for its unbelievably lively nightlife, beautiful beaches, and cruise parties in summer, it’s awesome to know that you can fly there on inexpensive flight deals from Barcelona.

Soon as your flight leaves Barcelona’s El Prat airport, it will take you about an hour on the plane to get to Ibiza. Ibiza Airport serves this beautiful island.

There’s a long list of things to do here! From taking a boat trip on its blue waters, snorkeling, or the Jeep Safari Island Exploration, wind up your day at any of the top nightclubs in the city.

4. Vienna

Vienna is the historic capital of Austria. It has been referred to as the ‘city of music’ having had some of the greatest classical musicians of all time such as Beethoven and Mozart. 

Vienna has also been called the ‘city of dreams, having been called home by the world’s first psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud.

Besides that, its imperial buildings tell of a city’s history so well written, that it will leave you star-struck. The Gothic City Hall, Schonbrunn Palace, and Hofburg Palace are only a few of the breathtaking structures in Vienna.

From Barcelona, Vienna is only about a 3-hour non-stop flight away. Carriers such as Wizzair and Ryanair offer some of the cheapest prices on the sites.

 Stops en route will include Ibiza, Mahon, or the Orio Al Serio airport in Italy. Duration will depend on how long the stops take. You can also opt for a multiple airlines ticket. Great deals on that as well.

5. Lisbon

It takes a 2-hour nonstop flight from Barcelona to get to this historic capital of Portugal. Ryanair, Vueling, and Multiple Airlines carriers offer some of the lowest cost deals. 

Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world. Its architecture has a mix of almost all eras, including Romanesque, Baroque, and Gothic styles.

It is rich in history and art, with museums such as the National Coach Museum which houses the world’s largest collection of royal coaches.  A worthy destination.

6. Valletta

This small open-air museum town is the capital of Malta Island. Established by order of St. John as a refuge for soldier returnees from the crusades in the 16th century, Valletta is a haven of historic structures still on site.

7. Budapest

It’s only about 3 hours on a non-stop flight to Hungary’s capital. Best deals from Wizzair, and Ryanair offer the lowest fare prices but you can always compare more airlines to get your best deal.

Budapest is home to the majestic Danube River and over a hundred springs. It is the spa capital of the world. Quite popular for the magnificent Hungarian Parliament building, its underground caves, and ruin bars.

The Dohany Street Synagogue is the world’s biggest synagogue outside Israel. Visit the House of Terror if you’re a sucker for horror. It is one of the darkest historic sites, having been one of the sites where the Nazis tortured many people.

8. Marrakech

It will take you about three and a half hours to get to this Moroccan city on a nonstop flight. Vueling and Ryanair have some of the best low-priced deals. 

Marrakech has a variety of amazing things to offer. It is a medieval-like city endowed with rich culture and history, dating back to its foundations in the mid-11th century.

It still has red clay buildings once home to the Almohads. Tour through the city’s popular marketplaces known as ‘souks’, and shop for leather goods, jewelry and silverware as souvenirs.

9. Brussels

Brussels is one of the top destinations in Belgium. It takes a two-hour nonstop flight from Barcelona. You can opt for a Multiple Airlines ticket, one of the cheapest deals. Stops may include Mahon airport, which serves the Spanish island of Menorca.

Brussels is home to towering gothic cathedrals, such as the Cathedral of St Michel and Gudula. This dates back to the 9th century.

Brussels Grand-Place is the city’s central square and has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998. You can visit the Town Hall which features long gothic, and baroque columns with gold details.

If you’re a foodie, make your way to Marche du Midi, a foodie market at Avenue Fonsny. Belgian chocolate is a no-brainer.

10. Palma

Located on the historic Spanish island of Mallorca, it is no surprise that flying to this city from Barcelona is cheap. A non-stop flight takes about an hour.

The massive 13th-century Santa Maria Cathedral overlooks the Bay of Palma. Relax on the sandy beach of Playa de Palma, the largest in Palma. Bars and restaurants are always vibrant.
