Best Gay Bars in Barcelona
Barcelona has a huge LGBTQ+ community. For some reason, said community congregates by night in Barcelona’s Old Town only; which is where you’ll find all of the city’s gay and lesbian bars.
There are dozens of gay-friendly venues situated here, all within close walking distance of one another. A night out is rarely spent at just one place; prepare for some of the wildest partying you’ve seen in Europe. Ready?
Bacon Bear Bar in Barcelona
Every gay district needs one: an iconic bear bar that is open seven days a week. Bacon Bear Bar is Barcelona’s go-to. It’s said to be one of Europes best bear spots, you can let me know if you agree.
For those who are new to the scene: a bear bar is a bar targeted at men on the larger side who are usually hairy and project the image of rugged masculinity. So if you are a bear, or your simply prefer bears, then Bacon Bear Bar is where you need to be.

The thing about Bacon is to know when to go. Because it’s such a fun nightclub, most nights of the week are filled with more allies than anything else. Which is fine, but for strong bear evenings you want to visit on Tuesday or Thursdays.
Thursdays in particular are great because they offer a two for one special all night. Pay for your first drink, hang on to the receipt and when you’re ready the second one is free.

La Federica in Barcelona
Take a free guided walking tour through Barcelona’s Old Town before you go partying there by night. You’ll find it to be an eclectic neighborhood full of cultural, historical and sexual diversity.
La Federica is a fantastic space, whether you’re gay or simply an ally. It’s a retro themed bar decorated to reflect the 50s and 60s in Barcelona.

La Federica in Barcelona – by La Federica –
This isn’t your typical wild-night-out in Barcelona’s gay district. It’s more of an intimate, calm space in which to enjoy a drink and some bar snacks over good conversation or perhaps a first date.
Everyone with an open heart and tolerant mine is welcome at la Federica. Because of the nature of this space, most people start their evenings here and then venture out into the rest of Poble Sec and the Old Town once they feel their buzz.

Museum Bar in Barcelona
The chaos and mayhem you search for can be found close by, at Museum Bar just up north.
This is the opposite of la Federica; no calm conversations to be had, if you can hear anything at all over the music. You’ll notice that they only open at midnight and then close at 3:30pm; its hard and fast & the kind of place that requires a few drinks prior to arrival.
On that note, drinking in Museum Bar is cheap. Which accounts for how packed the space can get. Since they are only open on Fridays and Saturdays, I can’t even tell you to come on a quieter night during the week.

Hot, sticky, packed to the brim dance clubs are not my thing, but if you enjoy this scene then Museum Bar will be heaven.
What a lot of people do is actually come to Museum Bar as a place to drink before they head to a late night discoteca that will continue through until sunrise. The affordable drinks and late opening hours make this an attractive activity.

BOYSBAR BCN in Barcelona
If the name didn’t give it away, Boysbar is another fabulous gay venue in Barcelona. It’s one block from Museum Bar, and opens three hours earlier, so much of the clientele start here and migrate to the next at the stroke of midnight.
Boysbar is simply good fun: great drinks, friendly staff and popular music to dance the night away. It attracts people from all over the world, which is something I love about it. Everyone here is open to mingling and making friends; they all want the most memorable night out in Barcelona possible — that’s very much the energy.

They sometimes send promoters out onto the streets of the Old Town to promote their events. You might pass them during a guided walking tour.
If you are handed one of their two drinks for €10 coupons, note that this does not include cocktails. The bartenders often won’t make this clear and it’s annoying to receive a bill you weren’t expecting.

The Black Room in Barcelona
The Black Room is a prominent nightclub spot in Barcelona, and they host gay nights ever Sunday.
As expected, the venue gets packed and people come from all over the world to dance and drink here. Because of it’s size, there are many different zones within the venue in which weird and wonderful things take place. I’ve heard rumors of a sex room, but can’t confirm.

Arrive before 11pm unless you want to encounter a line around the block. Also note that The Black Room permits smoking inside, so if you’re not a fan of this you’ll be highly uncomfortable.
