Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre is a planetarium on Bijoy Sharani Avenue of the Tejgaon area in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The planetarium is a very inspiring and enjoyable immersive environment for you to get entertained as you learn about the celestial realm.

1. It was commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Communication technology

The Ministry of Science and Communication Technology is a ministry of the Government of Bangladesh. The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre opened to the public on 25 September 2004. It was previously named Bhashani Novo Theatre.

The space center was commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Communication Technology of the Government of Bangladesh. It was made autonomous by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre Bill 2010.

2. This planetarium features three kinds of exhibits

3. The planetarium is named after the founding father of Bangladesh

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on 17 March 1920. He is often shortened as Sheikh Mujib or Mujib and is widely known as Bangabandhu. He was a Bangladeshi politician, statesman, and Founding Father of Bangladesh.

Bangabandhu served as the first President and later as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from April 1971 until his assassination in August 1975. Mujib is credited with leading the successful campaign for Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan.

4. The planetarium was designed by architect Ali Imam

The Planetarium dome simulates Earth and its cool blue sky. This dome-shaped theater was built with the latest equipment. It enables visitors to soar into space as well as experience the thrills of an interplanetary journey in a three-dimensional environment.

The curved ceiling represents the sky. The ceiling shows moving images of planets and stars through projection onto a large-screen dome at an angle of 120 degrees.

5. The experience in the Planetarium is thrilling

Built on 5.46 acres of land, its spaces range in size from its 21-meter dome, seating 275 people; to three-meter inflatable and portable domes where people sit on the floor. Visitors need not look up in the dome to watch the show.

People feel they are watching space live, with everything around them, presented by 150 projectors. The planetarium added a new capsule simulator and smart-step floor and 3D video. In 2013 the planetarium added a Nuclear Industrial Information Centre.

6. The Planetarium has small branch Planetariums in the same location

There are son other theaters where one can go to hell and compete in a race to get freedom. It might sound horrific but there is exclusively a video they show you in a theater. 9. Another Novo theatre will be built in Rangpur

The government is undertaking the Novo theater project in Rangpur as a subsidiary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre in the capital. The Ministry of Science and Technology is mobilizing the project as a regional establishment. Therefore, there will be two planetariums in Bangladesh situated in different places.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre is quite a fanciful place to visit in Bangladesh. The Novo Theater may discourage experienced travelers, but here can be spent a great time. There are acceptable sitting arrangements, and sound and light effects are agreeable enough, not compared to international standards.
