Mushfiqur Rahim (born 9 May 1987) is a former Bangladeshi cricketer and former captain and vice-captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team. He is widely regarded as Bangladesh’s most successful Test captain. According to former Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons, Rahim’s batting is so versatile that he can bat anywhere in the top order, from one to six.
He is Bangladesh’s leading individual scorer in Test cricket. He is the first and only wicket keeper-batsman in Test cricket history to score two hundreds. Not only that, but he’s also the first and only Bangladeshi batsman to have three Test double-hundreds. Mushfiqur Rahim is the only Bangladeshi player to have won 150 international games.

Mushfiqur Rahim was born in Bogra, Bangladesh on May 9, 1987. He received his secondary education at Bogra Zilla School, where he was born to Mahbub Habib and Rahima Khatun.
In addition to cricket, he studied history at Jahangirnagar University. He took his master’s degree exams in 2012. In 2014, he married Jannatul Kifayet Mondi. Mondi is Mahmudullah’s wife, Jannatul Kawsar Mishti’s sister. Rahim gave birth to a son, Mayan, in 2018.
2. Rahim made his international debut in his late teens

Rahim previously represented Bangladesh Under-19s before joining the national team. Between 2004 and 2006, he played three Youth Tests and 18 Youth One Day Internationals (ODIs), averaging 31.75 and 36.00 with the bat in each format. Rahim received his training at the Bangladesh Institute of Sports.
Rahim captained the Bangladesh side at the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup, which was hosted by Sri Lanka in February and featured future international players Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal, among others. He was one of only two players in the tournament who had played in a Test match.
Bangladesh advanced to the tournament’s quarterfinals under his leadership. Rahim was recalled to the senior Test squad later that month for the first time since the England tour in 2005. For the series against Sri Lanka, he was chosen as a specialist batsman, with Khaled Mashud as the wicket-keeper.

Mushfiqur Rahim is a Bangladeshi cricketer of grade A+. The grade A+ players are paid well under their BCB contract. He has been a member of the Bangladesh national team since 2005. His annual salary is around $56,000. On a club level, he has played for a number of teams in domestic leagues, where he is paid well. His net worth is estimated to be in the $40 million range.

5. Mushfiqur Rahim was fined for “almost hitting” a teammate
Mushfiqur Rahim, captain of Beximco Dhaka, has been fined 25% of his match fees for ‘almost hitting’ teammate Nasum Ahmed during a Bangabandhu T20 Cup match on Monday.
In a viral video, the former Bangladesh captain was seen yelling at his younger teammate Ahmed after the Fortune Barishal batsman hit straight up in the air while trying to flick over fine-leg.
Because they were both looking at the ball, neither of them called for it, and Rahim was furious about the seemingly unintentional interruption after catching it. After their other team members intervened, Rahim animatedly charged towards Ahmed to say a few more words.
Rahim faced harsh criticism for his on-field outburst, with many believing that as a senior statesman, it was inappropriate behavior.
Mushfiqur was found guilty of making an insulting gesture towards Nasum Ahmed during the match, which is a Level 1 (2.6) offense, according to the press release.
6. Rahim was named vice-captain for Bangladesh’s August 2009 tour of Zimbabwe
The position was vacated because Shakib Al Hasan, the previous holder, was filling in as captain for the injured Mashrafe Mortaza. Bangladesh won the five-match ODI series 4-1, and Rahim scored 98 in the final match, breaking his previous highest score in list A match of 58, to help his team win. Rahim was Bangladesh’s fourth-highest run scorer in the series, with 169 runs at an average of 56.33.
Rahim retained his vice-captaincy for the Home Test Series against India in January and February 2010, and on the fifth day of the first Test, on 21 January, he scored his maiden Test century, the fastest by a Bangladeshi in Test cricket, off only 112 balls as Bangladesh delayed an Indian victory, being the last man out as India won by 113 runs. England played two tests and three One-Day Internationals in Bangladesh in February and March. Bangladesh lost all five of their matches.
7. Rahim was named Bangladesh captain on September 20, 2011
He was succeeding Shakib Al Hasan after a disappointing tour of Zimbabwe. The announcement came midway through the BCB Cup, a tournament in which the senior Bangladesh team, Bangladesh A, and an academy team competed. Rahim had already been temporarily captaining Bangladesh in the tournament. Bangladesh A won the competition.
Bangladesh’s next international engagement was a T20I, three ODIs, and two tests against the West Indies in October. Rahim produced a Man-of-the-Match performance in his first international match as captain, scoring 41 not out from 26 balls to help his team win with one delivery to spare in the only T20I.
Bangladesh lost the ODI series 2-1, and Rahim was their leading run-scorer with 100 runs, including a 69-run innings. Pakistan toured for three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two tests the following month. Bangladesh lost the one-day international series 3-0, and Rahim scored only 12 runs in three innings.
8. Mushfiqur rescinded his resignation as captain
Mushfiqur announced his resignation as captain on 8 May 2013. A few days later, Mushfiqur announced he had made a “mistake,” and the BCB announced on 3 July 2013 that Mushfiqur would be retained as captain until the end of the year.
In October and November 2013, Rahim had an outstanding home series against New Zealand. His team drew the first two tests, won all three One-Day Internationals, but lost the only Twenty20 match. Mushfiqur retained his captaincy in 2014, but his team fell to Sri Lanka in a home series.
9. He suffered a finger injury

Mushfiqur suffered a left thumb injury while playing wicket keeper against Gazi Group. The match was ended due to hand pain. After scans at the end of the game, fractures were discovered.
However, the finger injury is not life-threatening. As a result, he was unfazed in the Test and ODI series against Zimbabwe.
