Shakib Khan who also goes by the initialism SK, is a Bangladeshi actor, producer, occasional singer, film organizer, and media personality who works in Bengali films in both West Bengal and Bangladesh. In his career spanning about two decades, Shakib Khan has been a propeller of the contemporary film industry.

Currently, he is the highest-paid actor in Bangladesh, which is a long way from where he started with his initial debut in the romantic film 鈥淎nanta Bhalobasha鈥�, which did not lead to widespread fame. He, later on, established himself as one of the most successful Bengali actors, and here is a list of facts about him most do not know.

1.His Childhood Involved Moving Around A lot

Shakib Khan鈥檚 father, Abdur Rab was a government administration officer married to his mother, Nurjahan who was a housewife. His father鈥檚 line of work often required him to migrate his family from one place to another in the country. This led to Khan having to start his school years in different cities throughout his secondary school years.

2.The First Movie He Starred in Was a Flop

In 1999, Shakib Khan starred in the romantic action film Ananta Bhalobasha, playing the character Moshal. Though this film did not automatically propel him to widespread fame, it gave him a platform that established him as an up-and-coming actor in the contemporary Bengali film industry. Subsequently, Shakib Khan used this to establish himself as one of the most successful actors in Dhallywood. He is now one of the highest-paid actors in the Bangladeshi film industry.

In April 2008, Shakib Khan married co-star Apu Biswas in a private wedding ceremony at Khan’s Gulshan house in Dhaka. The two met when they both starred in the film 鈥淜otha Dao  Sathi Hope鈥�, where they both co-starred. Khan later proposed after filming was done but this was kept private from the public eye.

In 2016, the couple had a son, Abraham Khan Joy. Unfortunately, the couple filed for divorce a year later in 2017 which was finalized in 2018. Actress Apu Biswas Khan who had converted to Islam for the sake of her marriage, later on, reverted to Hinduism after the divorce was finalized.

Shakib Khan has a passion for dancing. He finished a dancing course under film choreographer Aziz Reza. In 1998, he went to the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BDFC) with his choreographer, Aziz Reza. Whilst there, he met a photographer who requested he participate in a photoshoot.

During the photo shoot, film director Abul Khair Bulbul noticed Shakib Khan and offered him the leading role in his movie. Though Shakib accepted the offer, he did not star in his movie but instead choose to star in another director’s film which ended up being Shakib’s debut appearance in the Bangladeshi film industry.

5.A Rickshaw Driver Sued Him

In 2017, during the filming of a political thriller Rajneeti, Shakib Khan used a phone number in the film in one of his lines that later turned out to belong to a rickshaw driver. That driver, Ijazal Mia, sued Shakib Khan to the tune of 60,000 Us dollars, citing that the use of his number in the film had led to millions of phone calls in search of the star.

The actor denied having any fault in the case by stating that the role of the actor was to recite lines and if any fault was to be assigned, the directors and scriptwriters were to be blamed, not him.

6.He is The Highest Paid Actor

Shakib Khan is currently the most generously compensated entertainer in Dhallywood. In 2019, Khan was paid up five million in Bangladesh currency for his role in the film Nolak. This subsequently led to him being one of the highest top earners in the field currently.

7.Khan Has Many Prestigious Awards Under His Belt

He has won the National Film Award for Best Actor four times in a row. The role that bagged him this prestigious award for the first time was his outstanding performance in the film Bhalobaslei Ghor Bhanda Jay Na in 2010 where he played an independent young man that studied law.

The second National Film Award was for his portrayal of a boy who deeply loved his mother but was separated from her at quite a young age. He was recognized for his other roles in other films leading him to win the third and fourth National Film Awards respectively.

 In the era of popular influencers that work to market and advertise products and services for big brand names using media, Khan has learned to pivot his name and likeness in that direction as well. His first gig was in an advertisement called Asian Duplex City. He then worked with an energy drink named Power.

Later he endorsed a mobile sim service provider in Bangladesh. In 2019, he worked with director Adnan Al Rajib in a commercial dubbed Hercules for SMC Orsaline N company. His latest commercial has been for Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited.

In 2019, Shakib Khan became one of the only Bangladeshi actors to make it to the list of top 20 stars of the Calcutta Times Most Desirable Man by the Indian Media. This selection was based on business, audience demand, and co-stars of the films released by him in 2018. He is among the most popular celebrities in Bangladesh.
