Suchinta Chowdhury Chanchal professionally known as Chanchal Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi actor. He was born on 1st June 1974 in the village of Kamarhaat in Pabna, Bangladesh.

Chowdhury was raised in a Hindu family. His father’s name is Gobinda Chowdhury and his mother’s name is Nomita Chowdhury.

Chowdhury received the best education as he passed his SSC examination at Udaypur High School in 1990. He also did his HSC examination at Rajbari government college, Rajbari in 1992.

His parents wanted him to become an engineer but he changed his mind and became an actor. He moved to Dhaka in 1993 where he applied for admission in the Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka.

Chowdhury is critically acclaimed for his performances in Rupkothar Golpo, Monpura, Television, Aynabaji, Debi and Hawa. He has several awards and accolades in his career. Chowdhury received two Bangladesh National Film Awards for Best Actor and three Meril Prothom Alo Awards for Best Actor.

His career started in theatres before he moved on to the big stages where he became a prominent and popular actor. Other than being a popular person, Chowdhury is also a family man who is married to one wife and has one son known as Shoishob Roddur Shuddho.

1. Chowdhury was Born and Raised in a Hindu Family in a Village

Chanchal Chowdhury was born on the 1st day of June 1974. He was born and raised in a Hindu family living in the village of Kamarhaat in Pabna, Bangladesh.

The father of Chanchal Chowdhury is known as Radha Gobinda Chowdhury and his mother Nomita Chowdhury. Nothing is known about his siblings.

Growing up in the village, Chowdhury was given the best education by his family. He studied and passed his SSC examination at Udaypur High School in 1990.

Chowdhury then passed his HSC examination from Rajbari government college located in Rajbari in 1992. In 1993, Chowdhury moved to Dhaka to apply for his university studies.

His parents wanted him to be an engineer but an innate urge for art and culture made him become an actor. He joined the University of Dhaka where he joined the Department of Fine Arts.

3. He worked for Ten Years on Stage after joining a Theatre Group in the Third Year

After getting his admission to the University of Dhaka, Chanchal Chowdhury relocated and settled in Dhaka in 1993. He then got himself into activities related to as much culture as possible.

While in the third year of his university studies, Chowdhury joined ‘Aronyak’, a Theatre group of legendary actor, director and scriptwriter Mamunur Rashid. This was the beginning of his career as he continued working on stage for ten consecutive years.

As Chowdhury continued working in minor roles and television series, his work was appreciated by several people. In 2004, Fazlur Rahman Babe who is also an actor introduced Chowdhury to Gias Uddin Selim and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.

After the introduction, Chanchal Chowdhury began working more and more in television dramas. He initially began working with Gias Uddin Selim in various roles.

Chowdhury also worked on a television commercial, Maa with Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. This is where his career took an upward surge.

He became more successful through the commercial. Chowdhury also gained immense popularity through these commercials.

Chowdhury explained his singing talent by stating “I always listened to Hemanta Mukhopadhdhay and Bhupen Hajarika and sang those songs to myself; I told Mostofa Sarwar Farooki Bhai to give me a chance to sing the jingle because I thought that my voice would suit the song. Ayub Bachchu and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki then listened to my singing and later let me know that my song had been selected.”

Chowdhury married Santwana Saha in 2006. The couple welcomed their son Shoishob Roddur Shuddho some years after their marriage.

9. He Encouraged Harmony in all Faiths after Mother’s Day Backlash

In 2020, Chanchal Chowdhury received backlash on mother’s day. He posted a picture of himself with his mother which drew criticism.
