The beautiful museum found in Dhaka, Bangladesh represents the massive struggle for independence of Bangladesh. It displays the entire nation’s history from the Mughal Empire’s reign between the 16th and 19th to its independence in 1971.

It is the first and the only museum that is uniquely constructed underground in the country. The museum is part of the 67-acre complex known as Sunrawardy Udyan which was formerly known as Ramna Race Course.

Sunrawardy Udyan is the place where the founding father of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave his historical speech. It is also the site where the Pakistani forces gave in after the end of the Great War of liberation.

The museum was open to the suborning the independence day of Bangladesh on March 25th, 2015. The museum can be seen from different locations around Dhaka.

1. The Architecture of the Museum is Exceptional

The underground museum consists of three water pools, an amphitheater, and a modern multimedia projection theater. It also comprises Shikha Chirantony which is the eternal frame that represents the eternity of Bengali nationalism.

There is also beautiful paintwork that shows the struggle for independence and other additional facilities. The entire museum has a tiled floor that covers an area of 5669 square meters.

The spectacular architecture was designed by Marina Tabassum and Kashef Mahboob Chowdhury who won the national design competition. They were both commissioned for the project which cost about 1.75 billion to construct.

The museum comprises about 144 glass panels that represent the entire history of Bangladesh as well as 300 historic photographs.

It also contains different copies of both local and foreign newspapers which are displayed in the gallery portraying the different events of the liberation war.

The Museum of Independence does not only display the feature of the freedom struggle. It displays some of the photos from some important archaeological and historical sites.

3. Shikha Chirantony is a Symbol of Eternity Nationalism

Shikha Chirantony is the beautiful eternal flame that burns below the Bangladesh national flag with the tower of light in its backdrop.

Prime Minister Sheik Hasina was the one responsible for the inauguration of the eternal flame in March 2007. Since it was inaugurated the amazing eternal frame has been visited by very many dignitaries worldwide.

The spectacular tower of light is well lit during the night which creates a magnificent spectacle.
