A Brief Guide to the Best Yoga Studios in Bangkok
So you have taken that flight to the tropics of Thailand in the hope of escaping the usual routine, weather, surroundings, and the lifestyle that you have become so accustomed to back home.
You now find yourself amidst the chaos, heat, and din of the Thai capital, Bangkok, and you are all ready and set for a good couple of weeks’ worth of spa treatments and massages, exotic food, and endless shopping malls, markets, and temples.
And then suddenly it hits – like a cold, hard slap around the face as the truth starts to hit home –you totally forget to pack the Yoga mat! And now you find yourself wondering whether it will be possible to go two weeks without a bit of the old ‘downward dog’.
Or perhaps you are both a seasoned traveller and Yoga practitioner heading out to Bangkok knowing in your bones that you’ll definitely need to seek out some form of serene space other than a temple in which to catch up on your sun salutations. In fact, for many people living and working in Bangkok, and of course for many simply visiting, a Yoga session overlooking the expanse of the city is the best way to find any degree of surcease from the tumultuous backdrop of Bangkok.
Either way, as it turns out the city of Bangkok boasts an impressively wide array of bright and modern Yoga studios, where most practitioners or even would-be-practitioners would feel at home. In typical Bangkok style, there are many different slants on the theme well worth checking out.
Although there are yoga studios of some shape or form in pretty much every neighbourhood of the city and its outskirts these days, the absolute best yoga studios are undoubtedly to be found close to the main downtown, central areas of Bangkok.
The studios in the city centre regions are bright, modern, impressively equipped, and offer a wide range of styles including classic styles right up to more contemporary ideas about yoga.
So you will find Iyengar, Ashtanga Mysore, Yin, and Hot Yoga, along with a surprisingly large number of aerial yoga facilities and all manner of ‘hybrid’ studios featuring other activities such as Pilates and such like.
It can soon start to become overwhelming once you do a few quick searches for possible studios that may be right for spending some quality Yoga time in.
As it turns out though, we’ve narrowed down the search somewhat with our list of some of the best studios in Bangkok in the hope that you find a place to facilitate the balancing of body and mind.
Namaste!
1. Iyengar Bangkok
Our first studio specialises in the Iyengar method of yoga (as the name clearly suggests) and this place was apparently the first accredited Iyengar studio in Thailand.
The studio vibe proffers serious intent towards practice, as well as a sense of quality and professionalism. All of the teachers are certified and experienced in the Iyengar style, and their approach confers a serious attention to detail.
The studio does offer various levels of practice, and although of course it does cater to beginners, this is a great place to head if you are more of a serious and experienced practitioner.

Empower is a rather small Bangkok yoga studio housed on the ground floor of a condominium. Needless to say, the classes are rather more intimate than those found in the larger centres.
Empower also largely teaches the BNS Iyengar Yoga System, as well as the Ashtanga and Vinyasa styles.
The centre is also known for running 200-hour, registered teacher training courses taught in English, which can be completed via intensive weekday courses or in weekend modules.

This is undoubtedly one of Bangkok’s busiest and most popular yoga studios, and offers five different types of class for various levels, along with some pretty impressive views to boot.
Expect an atmosphere of flow, chakra balancing, and energy channelling at Yoga Elements, where the main style of yoga is Vinyasa. Beginners will be fine here, but expect a more hardcore yoga element as well involving pranyama, meditation, and chanting.
also offers yoga instructor training courses, wellness workshops, and a variety of other activities from time to time.

Absolute also offers other types of activities such as pilates, spinning, and ‘F.I.T.’ (Functional Innovative Training). The Amarin Plaza branch is the main flagship of the brand, but you can take your pick of a fair few other locations that are not so difficult to find.

5. YogaSutra Studio
This downtown yoga studio located in the Sathorn business district of the city opened its doors in 2003. It is popular with Bangkokian yoga practitioners for its impressive 32nd-floor city views, as well as its open, spacious feel.
Again her you will be able to find classes for all levels, with a variation of styles once again featuring on the venue’s timetable. These are namely Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga, although this modern studio also includes slightly more versatile activities within the timetable such as Pilates, Core & Balance, and other ‘hybrid yoga’ concepts.
Location: 32nd Floor Sathorn Nakorn Tower, Northern Sathorn Road, Bang Rak District (Closest BTS: Chong Nonsi)
6. Divine Yoga
If any discerning yogis find themselves back up in the trendy Thonglor district of Bangkok, they may encounter something divine. Divine Yoga is a studio that bases its approach around a renowned Indian school of yoga known as Bihar.
The studio runs as many as 60 weekly classes, wide-ranging in terms of practitioner level. A nice stand-out point here is that all of the classes at Divine Yoga are conducted in English (with occasional Thai splashes for locals), adding a more diverse feel to the environment.
They do a few other dynamic, hybrid-type classes, so check out the timetable to see what suits you. The studio also a few more therapeutic-style classes such as Yoga Therapy, Office syndrome, and Stress Management.

7. Yogatique
Right in the middle of Sukhumvit Road, in Asok, you may happen across a smaller yoga haven with a little more of a community feel, by way of Yogatique.
The atmosphere in this place is a little more cozy than in some of the larger studios, and the venue also has its own 8-step yoga philosophy alongside an array of other yoga styles.
The studio extends a warm, welcoming vibe, under which you can explore a few various styles and levels until you find the right spot from which to proceed with your practice. With that in mind, this would be a great place for any novices to take up their yogic journey, or perhaps those with less experience.

Hosted in a Sukhumvit hotel, this class is a little smaller than might be found at some of the larger centres, but there is definitely a communal atmosphere in the place related to the fact that the philosophy and approach of a renowned Indian master named Sri K. Pattabhi Jois form the main core of the Ashtanga teachings and practice.

10. Eclipse Yoga
So now we move on to something a little more eclectic in the form of Eclipse Yoga, the very first black light studio in the city.
This means that the all-round yoga experience in this place is enhanced through the use of lights, colours, and aerial harnesses and straps. So this is more of an assault on the senses than a Hatha Yoga session, although the atmosphere is relaxing and somewhat unique.
The studio offers a range of classes with varying slants and themes, including hybrid styles that encompass concepts such as Pilates, Dance, Aerial Hoops, Pole Dancing and Iron Yoga.

This particular Bangkok yoga studio has locations both in and around the outskirts of the city.
The philosophy of the yoga brand is to make Yoga practice more accessible for people of all ages and levels, which indeed they do from their range of training courses starting at beginner level.
Don’t get that that the wrong way round though, as there are also high-level classes for more seasoned practitioners, with the majority of the classes being based around Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga styles, with a few other options in the background for those who fancy trying their hand at Pilates or a Yoga/Pilates hybrid session.
It’s a case of something for everyone at Yoga Above, and this is a place worth checking out regardless of your current level.

The philosophy behind Kri Yoga is the holistic union of mind, body and soul.
This studio’s approach is largely about looking at Yoga as a solution to a variety of both physical and mental issues such as excess weight, circulatory problems, lack of concentration, stress, and insomnia, to name but a few.
The aim is a happy and healthful life for all through improved concentration, better breathing and hence a more relaxed disposition, and a more toned and supple body.
Kri Yoga runs 3 different levels of class, and this is another trendy and friendly Yoga studio in the heart of the city – again the very easily-accessible Asok!
