Bali Safari and Marine Park, or Taman Safari Indonesia III is a branch of Taman Safari located in Gianyar, Bali. It integrates cultural and wildlife experiences using thematic and ‘storyline’ organization.

Cultural experiences include secular (gardens, market) and sacred (temple, baths, courts and water features) culminating in theatrical presentations of traditional Hindu sagas.

Animal experiences begin with Balinese species; expand to animals of other Indonesian islands, then to Indian and East African species. In all cases, culture and wildlife are interrelated.Let’s take a look at some of the amazing facts about it;

The Bali park is very rich in both wildlife and forestation and is about a thirty minute drive east of Denpasar on the new coastal highway. The site is transected by 10 metre deep, steep sided ravines forested with large fig trees, palms and other tropical vegetation.

Common wildlife includes long-tailed macaque, chestnut-breasted malkohas, and plantain squirrel. Cobra and python of different species, were seen frequently during construction. Endangered Balinese species include Bali starling (mynah), pink-necked pigeon, emerald dove, wreathed hornbill, black leaf monkey and wild bantang.

The park has employed over 300 local people, and local artisans were also employed during construction. Selected local artists (sculptors, painters, silversmiths and batik makers) are provided with market areas to create and sell their work.

The company even collaborated with local villagers in the construction of a Hindu temple (consecrated by a local priest) and a traditional public bath as central features within the park.

Children’s classes in Balinese dance are conducted in the market area, employing local musicians and dance instructors. When the Bali Theatre opens it will employ local actors, dancers and musicians as well as stage set craftsmen.

Other activities for family is sight seeing marine animals and taking rides boats together with the whole family, which was moves on the artificial river by rail, and you could see a number of other animals along the water.

The park is spotlessly clean, well designed and has well cared for animals and a focus on conservation. The overall highlight for us was their heart warming hospitality and welcome, getting to see Dragon, cage experience, food, and dance!

They also offer accommodation and various jungle activities. It’s a great place for kids, couples and families.The experience is cheaper but still amazing experience that may compare to the African Safari.

There are several hotels near Bali Safari and Marine Park including;Rumah Luwih (0.22 mi), Villa L’Orange Bali (0.21 mi), Romantic beachfront resort – 2 bedroom Pool Villa (0.20 mi) Villa Puri Nirwana, 6BR, Ketewel (0.23 mi) and Mara River Safari Lodge (0.50 mi). 

There are also several restaurants near the park including ;Dapoer Lebih (0.03 mi), Warong Legong(1.10 mi), Tsavo Lion Restaurant (0.44 mi), Andrawina Restaurant (0.30 mi) and Rumah Luwih Restaurant (0.29 mi). 

10.Transportation to the park is easy and affordable

Transportation to the park is easy and affordable. To get to the place, you can rent a car or a motorcycle to reach this destination. From Ngurah Rai International Airport, it can take you around 50 minutes by car. But it’ll take just 40 minutes if you want to reach this famous family zoo from Denpasar.

The park is open in all days, Sun – Sat as from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Other attractions near Bali Safari & Marine Park include; Cucukan Bali Tour, Cucukan Beach, Sababay Winery, Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuar and Halo Bike Cycling Tour. It is one of the best attractions in Bali and one of the most visited.
