Errol Leslie Thomson Flynn was born in June 1909 in Battery Point, Tasmania. He was an Australian-born actor.

He was the son of Theodore Thomson Flynn and Lily Mary young. His father was a lecturer and later a professor of biology at the University of Tasmania.

Flynn was well knot worldwide during the Golden Age of Hollywood. He was established for his romantic swashbuckler roles and partnership with Olivia de Havilland.

Flynn was also established with his other roles outside acting. He was established for his reputation for womanising and hedonistic person life.

Flynn established roles in his acting career are captain blood in 1935, and Major Geoffrey Vickers in The charge of the light Brigade in 1936. The eponymous hero in The Adventure of Robin Hood was well notable. It was named by the American Film Institute as the 18 greatest heroes in American film history.

Additionally, his other notable role in his career was the hero in several Western films. These are Dodge City, Santa Fe Trail and San Antonio.

1. Flynn was a Trouble-Maker and a Mischievous Child which got Him Expelled from several Schools

Flynn was regarded as naughty in his education journey. He received his early education in Hobart. He attended The Hutchins School, Hobart college, The friends’ school and Albira street primary school, Nevertheless, he was expelled from each of these schools.

In 1926, he returned to his home to finish his education at a local school. However, he was expelled for theft issues.

According to him, he said that he was expelled after his fellow student exposed his ongoing affair. The affair was between him and an older maid who worked at the school.

At the age of eighteen, he went to Papua New Guinea. He was seeking his fortune in tobacco planting and gold mining in the Morobe Goldfield.

He spent the next Five years working in Guinea and Sydney. Additionally, he also worked as a police constable, sheep castrator, Shipmaster for hire and fisherman.

In late 1933 he went to Britain to pursue a career in acting. During his studies, he got extra work in film. The film was ‘I Adore you’ which was produced in 1933 by Irving Asher for Warner Bros.

He received his training as a professional actor at Northampton Repertory company at the town’s Royal Theatre. In 1934, he performed at the Malvern Festival in Glasgow and London’s west End.

4. He Had A Violent Side

In 1934, Flynn was fired from Northampton Rep. after he got into a heated argument with a female stage manager, and threw her down a stairwell.

However, after he got fired. He returned to London. He acted as the lead in Murder at Monte Carlo. The film was made by Warner Brothers at their Teddington studios in Middlesex.

His performance was good even though the movie was not widely seen. He was granted a contract by Warner Bros in Hollywood and was later sent to Los Angeles.

In 1934 Flynn was dismissed from Northampton Rep. After he threw a female stage manager down a stairwell. He returned to London.

Asher cast him as the lead in Murder at Monte Carlo, a “quota quickie” made by Warner Brothers at their Teddington Studios in Middlesex.

The movie was not widely seen (it is a lost film) but Asher was enthusiastic about Flynn’s performance and cabled Warner Bros in Hollywood, recommending him for a contract. Executives agreed and Flynn was sent to Los Angeles.

5. One of his Roles in Acting was Named as 18th Greatest Hero in American film History

His most recognised role in the films he acted in was the Eponymous Hero. He played this role in The Adventure Of Robin Hood film in 1938. The role was later named by the American film institute as the 18th greatest Hero in American film history.

Additionally, he got the lead role in Captain Blood (1935), and Major Geoffrey Vickers in The Charge of the Light Brigade (1936). The hero in several Westerns such as Dodge City (1939), Santa Fe Trail (1940), and San Antonio (1945).

6. Flynn was Accused with an Allegation that Damaged his Screen Image

In 1942, two girls aged 17 accused Flynn of statutory rape. He was detained for the first case whereby he defended himself.

However, he did not escape after the first accusations as he was reported for the second rape allegations. The victim had appeared as an extra in one of his films.

His fans Founded an organisation to protest against the accusations. However, when the trial took place. Flynn’s attorney questioned the accusers’ character and morals.

They were accused of numerous indiscretions. Such as affairs with married men. Abortion was illegal at the time.

The attorney said that the two girls had cooperated with prosecutors in the hope avoid prosecution themselves. Thus, Flynn was said to be free from the trials.

7. Flynn was declared Unfit to Join the Military During World War II due to Health problems

Flynn attained his American citizenship on August 15, 1942. He was eligible to join the military draft as the country was heading towards world war II. He tried to join the military but he was declared unfit due to his many health problems.

At that time he was suffering from malaria which he contracted in New Guinea. He suffered from a heart murmur, various venereal diseases and latent pulmonary tuberculosis.

8. His House was a Voyeur’s Dream

His house had various hiding constructed inside his mansion. It had various Mirrors including an overhead trapdoor above a guest bedroom for viewing.

In 1966, actress Hedy Lamarr wrote the characteristics of the house in her biography. She said many of the bathrooms have peepholes or ceilings with a Square of opaque glass. Through which you can’t see but someone can see in.

9. He wrote and Published a Book about his Wicked Life

Flynn wrote his final book with the help of ghost-writer Earl Conrad. The book majorly focuses on the story of his personal life as a Hollywood actor.

He named the book ‘my wicked, wicked ways. Instead, he wanted to name the book ‘In Like Me’ but the publisher refused.

10. His Opium Addiction and Alcoholism wrecked His Health

Flynn had a reputation for womanising, hard-drinking, chain-smoking and narcotics abuse. He was banned from drinking due to his health status.

Nevertheless, he was Mischievous and would inject oranges with Vodka and eat them during his breaks while acting.

His opium addiction and alcoholism deteriorated his health. He suffered from many illnesses that led to his death.

The illnesses included myocardial infarction, coronary thrombosis, coronary atherosclerosis, liver degeneration, and liver sclerosis which ultimately led to his premature death at the age of 50 on October 14, 1959.

Errol Flynn married twice in his life. He also loves young women. He married Actress Lili Damita, Nora Eddington and Actress Patrice Wymore.
