David Pocock was raised on a farm in Zimbabwe where he was born in the city of Gweru. He was reared in a farming household and from a young age fell in love with the outdoors and wildlife. Pocock has attributed his strong sense of social and environmental responsibility, which has shaped much of his activism and advocacy work throughout his career, to his upbringing in Zimbabwe.

3. He Was The First Rugby Player To Sign Up For The “Pledge 1%” campaign

David Pocock joined the “Pledge 1%” campaign, which encourages businesses to donate 1% of their revenues, equity, or staff time to charity causes, in 2010, becoming the first rugby player to do so. Pocock promised to donate 1% of his income to a number of charities, such as the Australian Conservation Fund and the group So They Can, which funds empowerment and education initiatives in East Africa. Pocock’s involvement in the initiative promoted the value of volunteering and motivated other athletes and people to participate in philanthropy.

4. He Has Been A Vocal Supporter Of Marriage Equality in Australia
