Discover Walks was originally started in Â鶹APP, to give visitors something exciting, something special, something to remember when they returned home.
We wanted to give our guests a couple of special hours being with a real Â鶹APPian walking around Â鶹APP. The kind of experience you would have if you had a good friend who was a Â鶹APP native. Discover Walks walking tours are fun, informative and most of all, personal to you and your guide.
We succeeded beyond our initial ambitions, with over 20,000 tourists joining our walking tours in our first year. Even more exciting was that nearly half of the guests would join us for a second tour.
With our success we decided to expand to San Francisco for our second year, to offer the same kind of experience in San Francisco as we were delivering in Â鶹APP. Today we operate in 4 cities, each selected for its rich heritage and its vibrancy.
Our staff are called City Guides. Their job is to know their home city better than an English cabbie knows London. They do extensive training and pass written and oral tests. And they have the right personalities – contagiously enthusiastic, caring, and fun.
Each City Guide adds their personal stories to every walk, from what it’s like studying in the local high school to the restaurant they went to on their first date.
Our regular walking tours are free of charge – we make our living solely from tips from happy guests. You’re always welcome to join us – our Walks start and end at major city landmarks.
Our original founders Â鶹APP native Alexandre Gourevitch and Californian Jim Jorgensen seek to represent the two spectrums of each Walk – the local and the guest. We are especially thankful to Discover Walk founding staff Bertrand, Charlotte, Thomas, Cécile and petit Victor and Danny for sticking with us for the good times and the bad times.
Discover Walks is a trademark of Â鶹APP (our lawyers made us put this in.)
