But since being integrated into Â鶹APP proper in 1860, Montmartre has always been one of the city&#8217;s most charming neighborhoods. And not to mention home to an important part of the Â鶹APPian art scene.<\/p>\n<p>In this article, I&#8217;ve outlined the<strong> top 3 metro stations for visiting Montmartre.<\/strong> These stations are the most central, and close to the area&#8217;s many attractions. So grab your metro pass and let&#8217;s start exploring Montmartre!<\/p>\n<h4>1. Maybe you recognize this classic glass-covered metro entrance from the film <em>Amelie<\/em>, it&#8217;s one of the most famous stations in all of Â鶹APP. And I think you&#8217;ll agree that the location is perfect for visiting Montmartre.<\/p>\n<p>Part of metro line 12, Abbesses is located on the Western side of the <em>Butte Montmartre<\/em>, or the Montmartre hill. And at 36 meters below ground, this is actually the deepest metro station in Â鶹APP! Make your way up the hill from Abbesses, towards the Sacr\u00e9-Coeur. If you&#8217;re not into climbing all those stairs, you can take the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/what-is-the-best-way-to-get-to-the-sacre-coeur-in-montmartre\/\"><strong>funiculaire<\/strong> <\/a>to the top of the hill. Perhaps most famous for his surrealist paintings and statues like\u00a0<em>Persistence of Memory<\/em>, which features the well-known melting clocks, Dal\u00ed was regarded as cutting-edge across artistic mediums.<\/p>\n<p>The film\u00a0<em>A Clockwork Orange\u00a0<\/em>drew inspiration from his work, notably the melting clocks. In my opinion, Lamarck-Caulaincourt is definitely one of the top 3 metro stations to visit Montmartre. Another iconic and pretty famous station, the typical <em>Montmartrois<\/em> double staircase above this metro station was featured in <em>Amelie<\/em> as well!<\/p>\n<p>Since the film was such a hit, the Lamarck-Caulaincourt staircase has become a popular photo spot, as has the caf\u00e9 just across the street. Part museum and part garden, it&#8217;s a very peaceful hideout within one of the busiest areas of Â鶹APP.<\/p>\n<p>This was also the former home and studio of several famous artists including Renoir and Maurice Utrillo. And you can see that the neighborhood surroundings inspired many of their works. In addition to the garden area, you can visit Renoir&#8217;s former <em>atelier . <\/em>And the museum portion showcases the history of Montmartre with local artwork, scale models of the neighborhood and other memorabilia.<\/p>\n<h6>12 rue cortot, 75018<\/h6>\n<h4>Dalida Statue<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">The French singer Dalida was one of the most well-known Montmartre icons of her era. Famous for hits like <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Parole Parole <\/em><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\">and\u00a0<\/span><em style=\"font-size: 17px;\">Laissez Moi Danser<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 17px;\"> Dalida was quite the celebrity. During her golden years, she called Montmartre home. She was a regular at the local caf\u00e9s, and some restaurants still remember her table to this day.<\/span>Today, there&#8217;s a statue of Dalida just a few minute&#8217;s walk from metro Lamarck Caualaincourt. The statue was erected in 1997 to pay homage to Dalida&#8217;s career, and is still visited today as she left quite an impact on the French arts scene.<\/p>\n<h6>place dalida, 75018<\/h6>\n<h4>3. The station is located on\u00a0 the southwestern side of Montmartre right where the butte Montmartre meets the lively <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/5-things-to-learn-from-pigalle\/\"><strong>Pigalle neighborhood.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Famous cabarets like the Moulin Rouge are just steps away from the metro exit. Plus, some of the city&#8217;s hottest nightclubs and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top10\/top-5-unusual-bars-in-montmartre\/\"><strong>trendy bars<\/strong><\/a> can be found to the South, and the charms of Montmartre just minutes away on foot. You&#8217;ll have to climb some hills (or some stairs!) to reach the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-best-moments-to-climb-to-the-top-of-sacre-coeur\/\"><strong>Sacr\u00e9-Coeur<\/strong><\/a> but the route is a scenic one!<\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t feel like walking, you can also catch the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montmartre-guide.com\/en\/access-montmartre\/\"><strong>Montmartrobus<\/strong><\/a> from just in front of Blanche station. This electric bus takes you on a scenic route of Montmartre and stops in front of all the major monuments. Besides Van Gogh, artists like Picasso and international celebrities like Charlie Chaplin could be often found in the crowd.
