In order to appease the hundreds of Instagram followers you\u2019ve obtained, or maybe just to keep for your own personal reminiscence on a great holiday, we\u2019ve compiled the best spots for photography in Prague &#8211; so you shouldn\u2019t have to pack your selfie stick and pose a hundred times for one photo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>1. Lined with statues of saints, they provide an interesting foreground to an already-stunning background &#8211; no matter what angle you take the photo from. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can have it facing Lesser Town, with the green top of the cathedral emerging from the distance. Or you can take the photo with the castle in the background, and it looks as if you\u2019re walking back through time. One piece of advice &#8211; try to go very early in the day, as this spot gets understandably crowded as the day goes on, and you\u2019ll definitely find people in the back of your shot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Try to wake up early (we know, it\u2019s vacation &#8211; but seriously) and head here for sunrise. You\u2019ll get amazing lighting, very few people, and that new Instagram you\u2019ve been secretly dying to capture. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Side note: please do not climb the statues on the bridge. Yes, people do this thinking it\u2019s a good idea. And it almost always is not. First, you can get a great photo without doing this. Second, if you fall into the river at sunrise, then good luck trying to find someone to help you out of the flowing water. Third, it\u2019s embarrassing to tell your friends you fell in the water trying to get the perfect picture. Stay on land, people.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>2. This castle is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and for good reason. The castle is basically a massive compound that is arguably one of the most important Czech monuments in the whole country. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you\u2019re walking up the hill to the castle, there\u2019s a sharp turn in the road where you can capture a picture on the staircase showing the route you\u2019ve taken to reach the castle. When you continue on, the view is one of the best locations for a photo in the city &#8211; Prague\u2019s skyline can be clearly seen here, and we recommend getting here late afternoon or when it begins to turn dark.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The complex contains various buildings of the old Gothic and Baroque styles, such as the St. Vitus Cathedral located within the castle walls. Inside the cathedral is also on our list of spots for photos &#8211; the Gothic architecture, stained-glass windows, high ceilings, and light shining through the beautiful windows makes this a great location for an indoors photo. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you exit the cathedral, the dark-teal colored doors are perfect for an artsy shot outside this exquisite building. The entrance way featuring these two doors, which seem to be about two stories tall, features detailed sculptures within the arch way, showing how detailed the architecture was during this time period. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We recommend using a wide-angle lens to be able to get both doors in the frame. Once you walk away from the cathedral, you should venture down Golden Lane. This street is lined with medieval and pastel-colored houses that were once occupied by goldsmiths. The varying colors of each house placed directly next to each other create a Scandanavian-feel , and add a pop of color to your Instagram photo feed. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The only downside about the castle complex is the business &#8211; there will almost always be tourists here, and more potential of people to get in your photo. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since the castle is open 6am &#8211; 10pm, we recommend trying to get here early if possibly for some solace, or later in the afternoon and evening so you can have a bright sky to capture all of the photo opportunities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>3. If you are heading here around lunch or dinner time, there are a few restaurants on this route that you can stop at for a quick bite or drink. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you reach the top, you\u2019ll be able to clearly see the entire city of Prague, with the castle turning golden in the sun, the red-roofed buildings popping out in front of the castle, and the green of the park in the foreground. The mix of colors combines to create an aesthetic and nature-centric shot.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>4. You can head here after Petrin Hill, so you could hit both of these locations while watching the sunset if you\u2019re a fast walker. Y<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ou have to climb almost 300 steps to reach the top of the tower and pay a fee to climb the tower &#8211; but the view is worth it. You can walk around the top section of the tower, giving you a 360-degree birds-eye view of not only your immediate surroundings, but the architecture that has made Prague famous, like the Charles Bridge, Old Town, Prague Castle, and almost the whole city. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Vltava River snakes through the city, with red-topped buildings in the front, the castle in the distance, and the green roof of St. Nicholas Church nearby. The \u2018Eiffel Tower\u2019 of Prague, the views here are second-to-none, and are the perfect spot for your photo submission to Conde Nast &#8211; if you use the right filter, of course.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>5. We recommend trying to get right in front of the clock to take a photo, since it gets pretty crowded and tourists can crowd all around the structure, ruining your wide-angle photo. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attempt to get here early in the morning so you can be one of the few taking a straight-on shot before the masses wake up for breakfast. Also in Old Town Square, you can capture a birds-eye view shot from the famous Old Town Hall Tower. You can climb to the top of the tower, grabbing great views in all directions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have a wide-angle lens, preferably a 14mm or wider, then you can get a great fish-eye-type shot looking straight down. The buildings seem to all morph into one another, the people look smaller, and the grid-pattern on the street adds some interesting perspective.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>6. You end up on Strelecky Island, a peaceful island in the middle of a busy city. This patch of green is a perfect spot to go for a walk, escape the bustling life of Prague, and have a few peaceful moments to yourself. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And look for the next photo, of course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Head north, all the way to the end of the island, and eventually you\u2019ll be able to look across the water and get a lovely (and unique) view of the river. The angle is facing back towards the Charles Bridge, with a different perspective of the tourist attractions that are almost always photographed from the same angles over and over again &#8211; dare to be different, right?
