Photo Credit Discover Walks.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This great exchange has lead to a real change in the French Cuisine on offer in a country which was not known for its food finesse, until multiculturalism swept in turning everyone into a self confessed &#8220;foody&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>French Cuisine is one of the many foreign offerings that London does really well, if you know where to go.<\/p>\n<h3>La Tradition<\/h3>\n<p>If it&#8217;s not broke, don&#8217;t fix it. Mon Plaisir is just that.<\/p>\n<p>London\u2019s oldest Family run French Restaurant was established by the Viala brothers during the forties. Alain Lhermitte the current owner took it on in\u00a0 1972 .<\/p>\n<p>In service to his labour of love, he has\u00a0 continued the tradition of serving top quality authentic French cuisine. The service is French and friendly. It&#8217;s the whole atmosphere it evokes. Photo credit, Discover Walks.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The fact is, we&#8217;re so spoilt for choice eating out in London that we can afford to be picky and choose the perfect restaurant for every occasion.<\/p>\n<p>The capital proffers Gastro pubs, Pop ups, Private members clubs, Food trucks and a rainbow of diversity in terms of cuisine.<\/p>\n<p>So French fine dining is not necessarily what we&#8217;ll favour for a business meeting, or a meal with mates or colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>However, these restaurants come into their own when we want to celebrate an anniversary or special occasion and indeed mark the meaning with this choice.<\/p>\n<p>Clos Maggiore is a French restaurant of this ilk. Photo credit by @sketchlondon from Instagram<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This other-wordly Mayfair address has been consistently patronised since its opening in 2003, by both a hip, well-heeled crowd, as well as the curious and tourists keen to drop in and see what all the fuss is about.<\/p>\n<p>The brainchild of Algerian born restauranteur Mourad Mazouz, who invented his very own brand of \u201cG-Art-stronomique\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Sketch describes itself as &#8220;a destination for food, drinks, music &amp; art, comprising an artist conceived gastro-brasserie restaurant&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Michelin starred chef Pierre Gagnaire heads up the menu with his creations.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a brilliant bar for a sexy, quirky date night. But if you&#8217;re actually seeking out this dining experience in London then you belong to another class of aficionado.<\/p>\n<p>If so, I have just the restaurant for you.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;Escargot was the first restaurant in London to serve snails.\u00a0Famously, they used to farm them in the basement. They are especially proud of their garlic butter sauce.<\/p>\n<p>Today, l&#8217;Escargot will prepare you six of its famous snails for \u00a316 or a dozen for \u00a330. Now, we&#8217;re seeing the fruits of this Eurostar romance blossom with some great spots to check out to satisfy all our gallic cravings.<\/p>\n<h3>Alpes London<\/h3>\n<p>Alpes London describes itself rather modestly as a &#8216;small Alpine bistro in a shipping container&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Alpes is a passion project brought to you by the Raclette Brothers. Wines come both from the Alpes as well as good British bottles. One of their fondues is made with a mix of Lincolnshire poacher, gruyere and of course raclette.<\/p>\n<p>The deep fried olives stuffed with goat&#8217;s cheese are my top starter recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>A great night out. It&#8217;s comprised of a language centre, a French language cinema ( cin\u00e9 lumi\u00e8re ) and a Bistrot, which opens from 11 serving strong coffee.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch options are very correct. The Bistro boasts charcuterie, quiches, soups, as well as patisserie and viennoiserie charged according to plate size.<\/p>\n<p>There are some rather nice wines by-the-glass, from pays d\u2019Oc to superior Chablis.<\/p>\n<p>Great for lunches. Photo credit by RDLH from Pixabay.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The French Protestant church decided to take matters into their own hands, when they set up &#8216;The French Market Soho&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The idea was to welcome their French congregation, expats and local Londoners\u00a0 in a relaxed French Market atmosphere to taste charcuterie, cheese and wine.<\/p>\n<p>Also welcoming a wealth of French designers and start ups such as; \u201cLouis et Victorie\u201d,\u00a0 \u201cLa Poupotterie\u201d, \u201cFrench Laundry\u201d, \u201cAmadoria\u201d, \u201cLove My V\u00e9lo\u201d, \u201cHappy Duck\u201d and \u201cWine Story\u201d, the overall aim was to raise funds for the church&#8217;s renovation.<\/p>\n<p>Borough Market is another good spot to head to if your missing the weekly tradition of doing le march\u00e9 either <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/tour\/london-walking-tours\/private-family-tour-in-london\/\">en famille<\/a>, with friends or your other half.<\/p>\n<p>The French Comte are one of these such market stalls. Specialising in artisan cheeses, and smoked and cured meats from their native region of Franche Comte.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll receive a warm welcome from Fabien Joly and Florent Gacon. Not to mention cancoillotte\u2014a rare runny cheese infused with champagne, garlic, vin jaune or walnuts. What&#8217;s not to love?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/boroughmarket.org.uk\/map#the-french-comte\">Here&#8217;s<\/a> a market map to help you find them.<\/p>\n<h3>Aux Merveilleux de Fred<\/h3>\n<p>Fred is a passionate p\u00e2tissier!<\/p>\n<p>He began early with an apprenticeship aged 14, got his wings burnt by an early entrepreneurial experience.
