Often they are older people.<\/p>\n<p>Hence the need to provide affordable nutrition, solidarity and support.<\/p>\n<h3>First Solidarity Restaurants<\/h3>\n<p>It was in 2010 that the mayor of Âé¶¹APP opened 5 <strong>restaurants solidaires<\/strong> for those most in need in the 5th, 13th, 10th, 14th and 20th arrondissements.<\/p>\n<p>These restaurants aimed to replace the distribution of food packages\u00a0 \u00ab C\u0153ur de Âé¶¹APP \u00bb at P\u00e8re Lachaise, hoping to provide a better quality of nutrition, with points spread out through town, as well as a more welcoming setting for service users.<\/p>\n<p>On March 18th 2013, a 6th address was inaugurated by the mayor of Âé¶¹APP, Bertrand Delano\u00eb. There are also homeless men and women who come alone.<\/p>\n<p>Since opening the restaurants served nearly 200 000 meals in one year.<\/p>\n<p>In order to access these restaurants diners hold a monthly card or voucher, given to them by the social services and partner charities. The waiters are impeccably dressed in waistcoats, bow ties and crisp, white linen aprons.<\/p>\n<p>Yet despite the grandeur of the setting menu prices go something like this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Starters from \u20ac1<\/li>\n<li>Main courses between \u20ac8.50-13.50\u00a0 <em>( including: sea bream in a butter sauce, canard confit, beef tartare )\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Cheese plates are \u20ac1.90-2.60<\/li>\n<li>Desserts \u20ac2.20- \u20ac4<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The restaurant takes no reservations.\u00a0<\/strong>The only way to eat here is to turn up, then queue up, in what can sometimes be a line stretching some way along the pavement. It worked. Now they have two caf\u00e9s in the capital:<\/p>\n<p>One in the Op\u00e9ra district at <strong>23 rue Saint Augustin<\/strong>, open from <strong>11:30-6pm Tuesday to Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Op\u00e9ra address would be the perfect place to drop in to refuel after touring the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/tour\/paris-walking-tours\/paris-landmarks\/?utm_source=Blog&amp;utm_campaign=Blog&amp;utm_content=dw-landmarks\">Right Bank.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Their little sister Takeaway only caf\u00e9 is at 87 Passage Choiseul<\/p>\n<h3>La R\u00e9sidence<\/h3>\n<p>This restaurant came almost organically following the refugee food festival.<\/p>\n<p>Their engagement and sense of Solidarity is to change the perception of refugees, whatever that word means to us, through food.<\/p>\n<p>Here the team behind La R\u00e9sidence describe their mission:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Every 2 to 6 months, La R\u00e9sidence welcomes a new French refugee chef who takes control of the restaurant\u2019s kitchen to share his\/her cuisine and the flavors from his\/her country of origin with the general public.<\/p>\n<p>Wherever they are from, all the chefs invited to officiate at La R\u00e9sidence are professional cooks looking for a new experience.
