This will save you from any awkward encounters with law enforcement when you accidentally apply some of your own rituals in a space where they may not be accepted. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Chewing gum, for example, is something widely accepted around the world but there are some parts that prohibit it. It is unclear as to what the exact penalty for the infringement is today and for the most part the law is rarely enforced. But it is actually illegal to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/most-romantic-places-for-a-first-kiss-in-paris\/\">kiss<\/a> in a train station or by a train platform so long as there are stationary trains waiting to depart. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The law came about in a time where train schedules saw immense delays as lovers scrambled for one last kiss between departures. There were pranksters running amok who would refer to what they consider to be undesirable creatures as \u201cNapoleon!\u201d In attempt to mock the man in power. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A law was introduced that prohibited all French citizens from naming or referring to any pigs as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-fun-facts-about-napoleon\/\">Napoleon<\/a>. This law remains in place to this day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In France, you can name your pig after any influential person dead or alive. You could name your pig after the current French president if you so desired. Amongst them were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-places-to-propose-in-paris\/\">finances of French citizens<\/a> who were to be married in the coming months. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s3\">A woman named Ir\u00e8ne Jodard lost her fianc\u00e9 in the flood. In 2014 a woman from Lille was able to marry her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-places-to-propose-in-paris\/\">finance<\/a> after his death two years prior. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Parents Can Block Said (or Any) Marriages <\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In 1803 the Napoleonic code was written into French law and has yet to be updated by the nation. It states that parents are able to issue statements of opposition on their children\u2019s marriages for any reason they deem fit. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The opposition will go through the town hall and be reviewed. If the reasons are deemed appropriate then the couple will not be permitted to move forward with marriage documentation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The couple will have a chance to seriously appeal the blockage. And should it be overturned then the parents will be given another month to file a counter appeal of their own, or simply let the marriage move forward. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">The Burkini is Partially Banned in France<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In an extremely backward movement in women\u2019s rights, the burkini is not permitted in many parts of France and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-five-best-indoor-swimming-pools-in-paris\/\">swimming facilities in Â鶹APP<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Burkinis are traditional islamic swimming suits for women who wish to keep their bodies covered while at the beach.
