Don\u2019t feel bad if you\u2019ve never even heard of some of them \u2014 many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/a-guide-to-walking-in-paris-like-a-parisian-street-etiquette\/\">Âé¶¹APPians<\/a> haven\u2019t either!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Its Âé¶¹APP: off the beaten track\u2026 <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Take the Train to <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Ch\u00e2teau de Chantilly<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> in Âé¶¹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The palaces of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/versailles-vs-fontainebleau\/\">Âé¶¹APP and Fontainebleau<\/a> are opulent, extraordinary architectural masterpieces that are without a doubt worth a visit (and the long lines) if you have superfluous time in your hands while in Âé¶¹APP. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Just like cheese and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/why-are-the-french-famous-for-wine\/\">wine<\/a>, castles are abundant in France. Today it features an incredible art collection and plush gardens that you can explore during your visit; the art gallery is actually one of the largest in all of France. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">What will really blow you away is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-quietest-spots-in-paris\/\">library<\/a>. Floor to ceiling book collections amidst find woodwork; the smell is out of this world. Book lovers will know what I mean. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Ch\u00e2teau de Chantilly marks the spot where whipped cream was invented many, many years ago. Thats right \u2014 the fluffy milk that is now found all around the world first occurred at this ch\u00e2teau near Âé¶¹APP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Ch\u00e2teau de Chantilly is open to the public seven days a week. You\u2019ll catch the train from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/things-to-do-near-gare-de-lyon\/\">Gare de Lyon<\/a> station in Âé¶¹APP central; be sure to purchase your roundtrip in advance so you are guaranteed a ride home. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Have a Dip at Butte-aux-Cailles Public Pool in Âé¶¹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">5 Place Paul Verlaine<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One thing tourists love to do when they get to Âé¶¹APP in the summer is complain about the fact that they can\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-spas-in-lisbon\/\">swim<\/a> in the Seine. \u201cIts clean isn\u2019t it?\u201d they say through their frustration, wiping the French humidity from their brow. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In Âé¶¹APP we don\u2019t swim in the Seine, but we do swim. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There are public <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/where-to-swim-in-and-around-paris\/\">swimming facilities<\/a> all around the city. The Butte-aux-Cailles is a swimming complex in the south of Âé¶¹APP, part of the 13th arrondissement. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Inside this 1920 French complex you\u2019ll find one main <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-five-best-indoor-swimming-pools-in-paris\/\">indoor swimming pool,<\/a> and two outdoor swimming facilities. The facilities open daily at 7am and entrance is \u20ac3.50. Add an extra euro if you\u2019d like to make use of a locker. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The only day to avoid the Butte-aux-Cailles would be Wednesday afternoons as hoards of French school children come to the pools for swimming lessons. They don\u2019t usually fill all three pools, however, so there is a chance you\u2019ll find a quiet spot to do your laps. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Connect with Your Inner Child at the Mus\u00e9e des Arts Forains in Âé¶¹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">53 Avenue des Terroirs de France<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/a-visit-to-bercy-village\/\">Bercy Village<\/a> and park is a developing neighborhood in the far south of Âé¶¹APP. Its location means that tourists hardly ever stumble upon it by accident, if you are visiting here its because you\u2019ve come on purpose. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Bercy pavilion is made up of a long row of old warehouse\/storage units that have been renovated into shops and restaurants. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top10\/10-reasons-to-visit-the-montmartre-museum\/\">museum<\/a> is comprised of a very carefully curated collection of abandoned funfair equipment such as rides, carousels and game stations. There are also objects from old theaters and music halls. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">These days its somewhat impossible to find 19th century carnival equipment still in working order. The collection is the work of a man named Jean Paul Favand; and it is officially the largest collection of fairground and show objects in Europe. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Entrance is \u20ac16 for adults, and half that price for children under 11 years old. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s5\">Treat Yourself at <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Caf\u00e9 de l&#8217;Homme in Âé¶¹APP <\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">17 Place du Trocad\u00e9ro<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The age old debate of who knows where the best <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/best-rooftops-paris-ultimate-guide\/\">rooftop<\/a> view of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/how-to-visit-the-eiffel-tower-with-kids\/\">Eiffel Tower<\/a> is. I like to think I do, however you\u2019ll find many of these around the city, all with ridiculously overpriced food and drinks simply due to location. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If I\u2019m going to break the bank on a cocktail and plate of food, I at least want to feel good in my surroundings.
