It is situated right up against the Seine on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/what-to-do-in-the-left-bank-in-paris\/\">Left Bank<\/a> and is a popular tourist attraction in this neighborhood. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">So what exactly is the appeal of this park compared to say the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/5-good-reasons-to-explore-le-bois-de-boulogne-in-paris\/\">Bois du Boulogne<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/luxembourg-vs-tuileries-which-garden-to-choose\/\">Tuileries<\/a> not far away? Â鶹APP\u2019 Botanical Garden is over 357 years old. In commemoration, the Â鶹APP School of Botany was constructed on these grounds and still exists here today. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I\u2019ll talk more about the plant life in a bit \u2014 for now here are a few other reasons to make your way to this gem in the 5th. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">1. The <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Museum of Natural History at <\/span><span class=\"s1\">le Jardin des Plantes in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Museum of Natural History boasts one of the largest collections of minerals, fossils and natural specimens in the world. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/a-visit-to-the-medieval-museum-of-paris\/\">museum<\/a> has a total of fourteen premises\u2019 throughout France, three of which exist within Â鶹APP. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Botanical Gardens are one of these vicinities. The building was opened just after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-fun-facts-about-the-french-revolution\/\">Revolution<\/a> and the collection is extensive. One wing features full sized dinosaur skeletons suspended from the ceiling. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The property is big and virtually impossible to cover in a single day. Download the museum map before arriving and begin isolating the sections you want to see most. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s3\">2. The Menagerie at <\/span><span class=\"s1\">le Jardin des Plantes in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Menagerie takes up roughly a third of the entirety of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/why-you-need-to-visit-paris-botanical-garden\/\">Botanical Garden<\/a>. It is the second oldest recorded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/visit-the-zoological-park-of-paris\/\">zoo<\/a> in the world. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Over 200 species of animals are housed here between indoor and outdoor structures, some of which dating back to the Revolution days. One can never be sure if the animals are happy or being treated fairly behind closed doors. Jogging, Skating and Biking <\/span><span class=\"s3\">at <\/span><span class=\"s5\">le Jardin des Plantes in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If museums and animals aren\u2019t your thing but you\u2019d still like a reason to enjoy the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/why-you-need-to-visit-paris-botanical-garden\/\">Botanical Gardens<\/a> for yourself then you might consider making use of the many exercise trails that are available. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Botanical Gardens take up a total of one hectare of land, thats 10,000m squared. I imagine there would be Facebook or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/5-parisian-instagram-accounts-you-need-to-follow\/\">Instagram<\/a> groups for these online somewhere if you\u2019d be keen to get involved!<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s6\">4. The Plant Life <\/span><span class=\"s3\">at <\/span><span class=\"s1\">le Jardin des Plantes in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As mentioned, the extensive history of the plant life here is what we owe much of the gardens existence to. Tropical vines from Australia, cacti from Mexico and desert trees from the Sahara are just a few that you can observe inside the domes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Once inside you\u2019ll also be able to learn the origins of each plant and the ecosystem in which they flourish. Just another highly educational part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/why-you-need-to-visit-paris-botanical-garden\/\">Botanical Garden<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s6\">5. Picnic at <\/span><span class=\"s1\">le Jardin des Plantes in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Finally, when you\u2019ve done the jog, seen the museum, smelt the plants, done the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/tour\/city\/paris-walking-tours\/\"><span class=\"s7\">free guided walking tour<\/span><\/a>; it comes time to kick back and simply enjoy the ambiance and the Â鶹APPian sun. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Bring your picnic and blanket to the Botanical Garden and settle in for an afternoon on the green grass.
