It can be walked in under an hour which explains why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/tour\/city\/paris-walking-tours\/\"><span class=\"s2\">free guided walking tour<\/span><\/a>s around these parts are in such high demand. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you\u2019re up for a night out, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/3-favourite-places-to-stay-in-oberkampf\/\">Oberkampf<\/a> is the kind of neighborhood where you\u2019d be alright simply arriving on the main strip and working your way down until you find the place that calls you. To give you some sort of direction, however, here are the top five bars in the suburb. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s3\">1. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Caf\u00e9 Charbon in Oberkampf<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">109 Rue Oberkampf<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As you arrive on the Oberkampf strip it will become impossible to avoid Cafe Charbon. An institution to the district as well as to Â鶹APP, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/where-to-find-paris-coziest-cafes\/\">Cafe<\/a> Charbon has been in business for over a century. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It was opened in 1900. The old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-fun-facts-about-parisian-architecture\/\">belle \u00e9poque<\/a> building features fine balustrades, high ceilings and exquisite woodwork. Once inside you\u2019ll have the option of drinking at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/best-gay-bars-in-paris\/\">bar<\/a>, at one of the tables or in one of the many booths. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There are DJs on weekends and in the warmer months the terrace is open for patrons to enjoy. If you\u2019re in the area at least stop by here for one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/5-cheapest-places-to-drink-beer-in-paris\/\">drink<\/a> before continuing with your night \u2014 worth it!<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s3\">2. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Ave Maria in Oberkampf<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">1 Rue Jacquard<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ave Maria is fabulous and bizarre all at the same time. The space is filled with Hindu goddesses, Ladies of Guadalupe and psychedelic ornaments. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The menu at Ave Maria is extensive. Their range of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-best-cocktail-bars-paris\/\">cocktails<\/a> is what bing the many guests here night after night; many of which will set you back a mere \u20ac4.50. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The venue plays music throughout the evening; softer during the early dining hours and louder as the evening progresses. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">3. Bootleg Bar in Oberkampf<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s1\">55 Rue de la Roquette<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Bootleg Bar is situated toward the eastern end of Oberkampf. This is toward the center of the 11th arrondissement that will eventually bring you directly to the gorgeous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/facts-about-paris-pere-lachaise-cemetery\/\">P\u00e8re Lachaise Cemetery<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Bootleg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/paris-butcher-barber\/\">Bar<\/a> is an intimate space that is best suited for a less rowdy night out. It was the least pretentious crowd I\u2019ve ever encountered in Â鶹APP and made for hours of fun until the space closed up at 2am. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ask for Walter, and ask for a whiskey sour \u2014 you\u2019re welcome! <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">4. Aux Deux Amis in Oberkampf<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s1\">45 Rue Oberkampf<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you frequent Oberkampf its only a matter of time before you land up at Aux Deux Amis having one too many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-things-you-need-to-know-about-wine-in-paris\/\">glasses of wine<\/a> and never enough of their plated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-best-tapas-bistros-in-paris\/\">tapas<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Aux Deux Amis is a classic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/where-to-eat-traditional-french-cuisine-in-paris\/\">French<\/a> bistro and is situated on the main Oberkampf strip amidst the rest of the far more raucous bars and clubs. It\u2019s a great bar to meet people in and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/10-places-to-make-friends-easily-in-paris\/\">make friends while in Â鶹APP<\/a> \u2014 one of the few venues where you don\u2019t have to shout over the music to communicate. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">5. L\u2019Alimentation G\u00e9n\u00e9rale in Oberkampf <\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s1\">64 Rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A kitsch themed bar\/ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/10-reasons-why-the-olympia-hall-is-the-greatest-concert-venue-in-paris\/\">concert hall<\/a> that is open until 5am? Sounds like a dream!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">L&#8217;Alimentation G\u00e9n\u00e9rale is Oberkampf\u2019s solution a night <i>out; <\/i>emphasis on the out! This is not a place you walk away from with much in tact. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Inside L&#8217;Alimentation G\u00e9n\u00e9rale you\u2019ll enjoy a vast space filled with all kinds of mismatched junk and collectables that are supposed to provide the ambiance. Some nights you\u2019ll samba; other nights you\u2019ll trance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-places-to-dance-in-paris\/\">dance<\/a> \u2014 that\u2019s L&#8217;Alimentation G\u00e9n\u00e9rale. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A few words of advice: don\u2019t leave the venue after 10pm because you won\u2019t be allowed back in and there will be a line around the block.
