It had been part of my bucket list to see the apartment where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/what-you-need-to-know-about-edith-piaf\/\">Edith Piaf<\/a> herself spent most of her life. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The apartment is mostly available for viewing from the street however you can also arrange private viewing times to go inside and see the home. In some ways it makes the artists we hold to such esteem slightly more personable and relatable. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Throughout <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-hotel-bars-in-paris\/\">Â鶹APP<\/a>, as well as in some countryside towns nearby, there are other artists homes still open to visitors. Here are the five worth seeing during your time in the French capital. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"s1\">1. Mus\u00e9e Delacroix in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">6 Rue de Furstemberg<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In 1857 Eug\u00e8ne Delacroix moved into his last known residence in the city of Â鶹APP. It is situated on the Left Bank almost directly across from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/a-walk-in-saint-germain-des-pres\/\">Pont des Arts<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Eug\u00e8ne Delacroix was the leader of the painters in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-most-beautiful-overlooked-french-castles-near-paris\/\">French<\/a> Romantic genre of the arts. You\u2019ll visit this house in a museum style setting of its own, with Delacroix\u2019s works spanning all across the walls of the place. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I love that this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/5-reasons-to-visit-the-cognacq-jay-museum\/\">museum<\/a> doesn\u2019t take very long to properly enjoy. You can make your way through it even if you just have an hour to spare during your walk through this part of town. Take note that the space is closed on Tuesdays. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s4\">2. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Mus\u00e9e Gustave Moreau in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">14 Rue de la Rochefoucauld<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Gustave Moreau was actually influenced by our afore mentioned friend, Eug\u00e8ne Delacroix. He reveled in the vibrance and drama of the works and went on to produce over 8000 works of his own that are still celebrated today. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Moreau was also famously an art school drop out. Its fascinating to visit a museum that was curated by the artist himself. What\u2019s more, many of the living quarters of the home are still preserved and open for visit as well. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">3. Monet\u2019s House near Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s1\">Giverny, Normandy<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Taking a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/10-reasons-go-monets-house-giverny\/\">day trip out of Â鶹APP<\/a> to see the place where our beloved Monet spent over forty years of his life seems like a good way to spend one\u2019s time, no?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Just 80 kilometers outside of the city, you\u2019ll come to the artists old residence in Upper Normandy, France. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/10-facts-you-should-know-about-claude-monet\/\">Monet<\/a> lived in a vibrant, plant filled townhouse. He called this home for all the years between 1883 and 1926. The space still holds his personal collection of artistic works including his series of old Japanese prints. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Back in Â鶹APP, take a trip to the 16th arrondissement and treat yourself to an afternoon at the Monet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/10-best-museums-to-visit-with-children-in-paris\/\">Museum<\/a> of Â鶹APP. Here you\u2019ll be able to view the actual Water Lilies series and draw parallels between the artwork and the gardens of his home in Normandy \u2014 remarkable!<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s1\">4. Auberge Ravoux near Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p9\"><span class=\"s1\">Auvers-sur-Oise<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Another very cool day trip to do from Â鶹APP would be the 28 kilometers out to the tiny village of Auvers-sur-Oise in the north west. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Here remains one of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-fun-facts-about-van-gogh\/\"> Van Gogh\u2019s<\/a> last residencies. This is also the only vicinity out of his 37 homes that is still standing and preserved to this day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">His home was actually a room in an Inn. The Inn will take care of your tour of Van Gogh\u2019s room quarters and you\u2019ll be able to eat a meal in the dining area that he did as well. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s1\">5. Mus\u00e9e Rodin in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p10\"><span class=\"s1\">77 Rue de Varenne<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/what-to-do-in-the-rodin-museum-in-paris\/\">Auguste Rodin<\/a> lived in this modern townhouse from 1908. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/tour\/city\/paris-walking-tours\/\"><span class=\"s5\">free guided walking tour<\/span><\/a> would be the best way to move through this area without missing any of the history that it has to offer. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">While there are preserved artists homes all through Â鶹APP and greater France, these are the five I would most recommend making the time for. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I hope it goes without saying that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/what-you-need-to-know-about-edith-piaf\/\">Edith Piaf\u2019s<\/a> old place over in Menilmontant takes a silent sixth spot and should also be on everyones tourism radar!
