This is where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/things-to-do-in-lisbon-in-march\/\">Lisbon<\/a> is at its greenest and you can stop spontaneously at any point to set up camp.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Maybe a shorter list for me to tell you where <i>not<\/i> to picnic in Lisbon! In any case, pack your chorizo and pastel de natas, a blanket to sit on and enough to drink \u2014 we\u2019re headed to the best picnic spots in Lisbon. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Jardim Bot\u00e2nico Tropical in Lisbon<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Tv. Ferreiros a Bel\u00e9m 41<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The tropical botanical garden on Lisbon is my favorite place to picnic. The free-roaming bird life is a lot of the reason why. Over time the city saw potential for the space to be made into a more public attraction and so saw the founding of the gardens in the 20th century. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The vintage greenhouses also on the park land are not to be missed. Explore these then settle down with your picnic on the nearby grass. Occasionally there will even be a wedding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-best-instagram-and-photography-spots-in-lisbon\/\">photoshoot<\/a> in the distance to enjoy while lazing. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Tapada das Necessidades in Lisbon<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Cal\u00e7ada Necessidades<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the southwest is another great picnic spot in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/things-to-do-in-lisbon-in-october\/\">Lisbon<\/a>. You\u2019ll find the Park of Necessidades just next to the Dos Prazeres Cemetery \u2014 also an interesting place for a picnic if you\u2019re open to it!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Park of Necessidades was one of the forgotten parks of Portugal. There was once even an old zoo ground solely for the Portuguese royals to enjoy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The best part of the Necessidades park, in my opinion, is the cactus garden. Many of the cacti are taller than the visitors who stand and observe them! The ground here isn\u2019t great to picnic on, head to the grass covered areas instead!<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s1\">Jardim da Estrela in Lisbon<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p9\"><span class=\"s1\">Pra\u00e7a da Estrela n\u00b012<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This patch of public land dates back to 1842. The garden is laid out right across from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-best-wedding-venues-lisbon\/\">Bas\u00edlica da Estrela<\/a> making it the perfect place to picnic after some sight seeing . <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">What really draws people to this park is the swan lake that is crowned by a signature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-best-6-cafes-of-lisbon\/\">cafe<\/a>. The tree life in this part of the park is outstanding; you lose all sense of being in a big city. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The statue itself rests on paved grounds but there is grass a short walk directly south should you decide to make this your stopping point.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p10\"><span class=\"s1\">Alg\u00e9s Beach in Lisbon<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p9\"><span class=\"s1\">Passeio Mar\u00edtimo de Alg\u00e9s<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Beach picnicking isn\u2019t everyone\u2019s cup of tea, but when you\u2019re in Lisbon and the sun is out it\u2019s hard to argue against it! <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Alg\u00e9s Beach in the far south of the city is one of the better picnicking beaches in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/lisbon-in-two-hours\/\">Lisbon<\/a>. There is rarely wind down here, so sandy sandwiches won\u2019t be an issue! All along the beach road there are museums to stop and enjoy; the MAAT, the Museu Cole\u00e7\u00e3o Berardo and the Popular Art Museum to name a few. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Continue on through Belem and you\u2019ll soon be back in the Lisbon city center. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p10\"><span class=\"s1\">Jardim Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p9\"><span class=\"s1\">Av. de Berna 45<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Our last picnic spot is the greenest and lushest of them all! The Gulbenkian Park is one of the newer public attractions in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/a-quick-guide-to-lisbons-architecture\/\">Lisbon<\/a>; it was only founded in 1969. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The park is actually the garden of the Calouste Gulbenkian museum that is situated on the grounds. And somewhere deep in the jungle you\u2019ll find an artisanal ice cream shop serving up treats by the dozen. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Take note that the park is open seven days a week but does close it\u2019s gates at 7:30pm. After this time it is considered private grounds. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Picnicking in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/lisbon-during-world-war-ii\/\">Lisbon<\/a> is one of the best ways to see the city, the nature and your friends all in one go. Many birds with one stone, I believe the saying goes?
