It is estimated to be double the size of Central Park in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The park was developed in the 19th century and commissioned under order of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-fun-facts-about-napoleon\/\">Napoleon<\/a> III. Haussmann architecture is still seen in most of the buildings, parks and plazas around Â鶹APP. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The land on which the park was built was actually the location of the first ever successful hot air balloon trip back in 1783. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As far as European parks go \u2014 it doesn\u2019t get much better than this. Let me give you five more reasons to visit this Â鶹APPian wonder!<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">1. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">The Lakes at Le Bois De Boulogne in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Being the spacious premises that it is, the Boulogne park has not one, but two lakes on site. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The lakes start on either end of the gigantic park and eventually come together at the Grande Cascade waterfall. Yes \u2014 a waterfall in a park! To keep busy while in the park there are options for boat hire during the day. You\u2019ll pay by the hour to do this and it is open to both children and adults. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/5-best-places-to-swim-in-paris\/\">swimming<\/a> is not permitted in the lakes; however there are many<a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-five-best-indoor-swimming-pools-in-paris\/\"> public swimming facilities<\/a> in the streets parallel to the park in the 16th arrondissement. The Piscine Henry-de-Montherlant is on the east barrier. There are also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/tour\/city\/paris-walking-tours\/\"><span class=\"s3\">free guided walking tour<\/span><\/a>s to take you around. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">2. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Botanical Garden at Le Bois De Boulogne in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the north-west of the park there are a few more bodies of water; this time smaller ponds. These are in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/why-you-need-to-visit-paris-botanical-garden\/\">Botanical Garden<\/a> area of the park and it is beautiful. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The space is vast and contains a plethora of plant and floral life. Often, there are exhibitions and concerts held in this part of the park. See if you can locate the Ch\u00e2teau de Bagatelle, a house-like structure built back in the 18th century that is still standing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you\u2019re planning on picnicking while in the park, this would be the place to do it! The grass is lush and well maintained \u2014 the prefect place to laze about on a day in the summer. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">3. Nearby Attractions at Le Bois De Boulogne in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The 16th arrondissement is a great district to explore by foot. If you are taking the metro to the park, you\u2019ll have a few minutes of street walking time to see what I mean. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Not far from the entrance to park Boulogne is the Monet Museum of Â鶹APP. I <i>love<\/i> visiting this space; it is home to over 300 original works by the artists himself. This is one of the best Asian French fusion restaurants in Â鶹APP and stays open until 11pm. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since the Boulogne park is open to the public 24\/7 visitors enjoy having access to late night food in the area. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/best-stargazing-you-can-find-near-paris\/\">Stargazing<\/a> late at night is a popular pastime in the park by locals of Â鶹APP! <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s5\">4. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Fondation Louis Vuitton at Le Bois De Boulogne in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Louis Vuitton <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-unmissable-foundations-in-paris\/\">Foundation<\/a> building, in the very north of the park, was purchased by the design brand back in 2006. The building itself is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-modern-architecture-gems-paris\/\">architectural<\/a> masterpiece by Frank Gehry. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It features wrapping glass sails that make up the exterior walls. Amongst these exhibition spaces there are a number of terraces and cafes for the public to enjoy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since the structure is so prominent in the Boulogne park landscape it generally attracts sporadic groups of people. When this happens there are long queues just to purchase admission tickets. If you know the day you\u2019d like to visit on it\u2019s not a bad idea to purchase tickets in advance online. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">5. Jardin Shakespeare at Le Bois De Boulogne in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">You\u2019ll get to the Shakespeare garden by finding the correct pathway in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/why-you-need-to-visit-paris-botanical-garden\/\">Botanical Garden<\/a> section. I wish I could tell you exactly how to get there, but I only found it entirely by mistake myself! <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The pathway will lead you to the beautiful open land that forms this park attraction.
