Lagerfeld was also at what seemed to have been a never-ending peak in an unfathomably successful career. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As successor to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-fun-facts-about-coco-chanel\/\"> Coco Chanel<\/a> herself, Karl Lagerfeld has been the creative director at Chanel since 1983. He moved to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/a-list-of-beautiful-churches-in-paris-you-didnt-know\/\">Â鶹APP<\/a> as a teenager and remained ever since. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Reports show that Karl Lagerfeld\u2019s mother was actually Swedish, and his father German. They immigrated to Â鶹APP when Karl was just 14 years old where he completed his schooling and pursued further studies in drawing and history. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">A Career in Fashion in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Lagerfeld\u2019s first break in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/12-reasons-you-should-move-to-paris\/\">Â鶹APPian<\/a> fashion industry occurred when he was just 21 years old. He won the International Wool Secretariat award. He worked on the brand\u2019s haute couture collections and was able to further his understanding of this dynamic form of art under the watchful eye of his eventual lifelong friend, Pierre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Karl served as head designer and creative director for a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/3-days-in-paris-for-returning-visitors\/\">Â鶹APP<\/a> fashion houses; <em>Jean Patou, Chloe<\/em> and <em>Fendi<\/em> amongst them. After decades of service to these legendary brands, Lagerfeld was appointed the new creative director of the Chanel fashion house in 1983. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He would remain in this role until his day of death in 2019. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Those who knew him report him to have had more creative energy than he knew what to do with. Serving one fashion house was simply not enough, and Lagerfeld engaged in a variety of projects while nurturing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-parisian-fashion\/\">Chanel<\/a> as his main one.
