This cathedral on the banks of the Seine draws an impressive 30,000 visitors per day; not exactly the place you\u2019d head for some quite time with the man upstairs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">For as many well known churches there are in Â鶹APP, there are probably twenty equally as beautiful unknown ones in various other parts of the districts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since most are not considered exclusive tourist attractions, you\u2019re unlikely to find them on the major lists of things to do or see around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/12-reasons-you-should-move-to-paris\/\">Â鶹APP<\/a>. For this reason I\u2019ve decided to make a list on your behalf. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Many of these churches were found solely by accident while walking the Â鶹APPian streets on a whim. St. Sulpice Church in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">2 Rue Palatine<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Despite pretty much being in the heart of the city centre, St. Sulpice Church is often majorly overshadowed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/best-restaurants-near-notre-dame\/\">Notre Dame Cathedral<\/a> not far away. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Notre Dame is situated on an island in the middle of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/things-to-do-near-the-seine-river-paris\/\">Seine River<\/a> in the 4th arrondissement. The book put the church on the map, and fans still flock here to see it in person year round. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">St. Sulpice is the second largest church in Â鶹APP. It\u2019s quite a sight to behold, I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever get tired of seeing the mismatched towers glistening in the sunlight. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/why-is-the-church-of-saint-germain-des-pres-so-special\/\">church<\/a> is within walking distance of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/luxembourg-vs-tuileries-which-garden-to-choose\/\">Jardin du Luxembourg<\/a> which is a great place to head to afterward for an hour or two on the lush green grass. With so much to see (and so little time) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/tour\/city\/paris-walking-tours\/\"><span class=\"s3\">free guided walking tour<\/span><\/a>s are a hot trend all around these districts. They\u2019ll give you the \u2018all you need to know\u2019 version of things so you don\u2019t find yourself doing circles around the place. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">2. Saint-S\u00e9verin Church in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">2 Rue des Pr\u00eatres Saint-S\u00e9verin<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you were to head back toward the Notre Dame island from St. Sulpice, you\u2019ll likely pass this next beauty on your way. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Church of Saint-S\u00e9verin is a strictly Catholic establishment just a fraction of the size of it\u2019s church friends in the surrounding area. Both were made with gothic style in mind, which is where much of the aesthetic familiarity can be drawn. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Church of Saint-S\u00e9verin also features the oldest still-functioning church bell in all of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/paris-left-bank-walking-tours\/\">Â鶹APP<\/a>. There is also a full wall mural dedicated to the memory of the writer himself; a sort of ode to what he did for literature as we know it. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">3. Russian Cathedral in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">1 Quai Branly<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One day after paying a visit to the Â鶹APP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/a-visit-to-the-medieval-museum-of-paris\/\">Museum<\/a> of Modern Art on the Right Bank of Â鶹APP\u2019 16th arrondissement, I accidentally crossed the Seine trying to get back to the metro. The building seems to have absolutely no place amongst the uniform Haussmann buildings that it is surrounded by. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/10-facts-about-notre-dame-cathedral\/\">cathedral<\/a> looks like something out of a children\u2019s fairytale book with numerous gold tipped domes that glisten in the sunlight. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Russian Cathedral is one of few Christian churches around Â鶹APP. Both are incredible Â鶹APPian gems to witness. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">4. \u00c9vry Cathedral in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Cours Mgr Rom\u00e9ro<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Slightly outside of Â鶹APP, to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/10-french-films-you-need-to-see\/\">French<\/a> south, you\u2019ll come to a little town called \u00c9vry. Here you\u2019ll find a weird and wonderful church that I can probably guarantee wont feature a single tourist other than yourself. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This is a relatively new church on the Â鶹APPian scene; it opened its doors in 1995 and is the product of the work of a Swiss architect named Mario Botta. The foreign nature of the architect will be abundantly obvious, there is nothing notably gothic or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/a-visit-to-the-jacquemart-andre-mansion-in-paris\/\">renaissance<\/a> about this one.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_15510\" style=\"width: 488px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15510\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15510\" src=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/evry11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"478\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/evry11.jpg 478w, https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/evry11-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-15510\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00c9vry Cathedral &#8211; by \u00c9vry Cathedral &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/evrycathedral.wordpress.com\">Sourced from their blog<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The cathedral is cylindrical shaped and the rooftop is covered with silver linden trees; another series of interesting choices by our friend Mario. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00c9vry Cathedral really needs to be experienced in person for you to being to grasp the very displaced structure that it is. Make a day trip out of this one and go past the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/best-free-museums-in-paris\/\">Museum<\/a> Paul Delouvrier a few blocks away! I thougfhrly enjoyed the collection of African works that they have on display. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">5. Charonne Village Â鶹APPh Church in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">4 Place Saint-Blaise<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Charonne is a tiny district that is part of the 20th arrondissement of Â鶹APP. It\u2019s not far from one of my personal favorite parts of Â鶹APP, Menilmontant (hometown of the legendary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/what-you-need-to-know-about-edith-piaf\/\">Edith Piaf<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This area is considered up and coming in terms of thing to do and see in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/what-to-find-in-paris-and-nowhere-else\/\">Â鶹APP<\/a>. Instead, the Â鶹APPh Church makes use of Romanesque style architecture to form its whimsical exterior. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> Its and enchanting little place surrounded by a countryside-like town that makes up most of Charonne. Both the church and the bell tower were built back in the 12th century so they really have earned their mark in terms of Â鶹APPian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-all-important-history-of-the-baguette\/\">history<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">6. Saint-\u00c9tienne-du-Mont in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Place Sainte-Genevi\u00e8ve<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Located on the Montagne Sainte-Genevi\u00e8ve in the 5th arrondissement of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/history-of-french-fashion-in-paris\/\">Â鶹APP<\/a>, Saint-\u00c9tienne-du-Mont is one of the most beautiful and little known churches in the land. It is also the church where the shrine of St. Genevi\u00e8ve is based, the patron saint of Â鶹APP.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_15512\" style=\"width: 687px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15512\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15512\" src=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/st-etienne-du-mont_interior_1_paris_france_-_diliff.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"677\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/st-etienne-du-mont_interior_1_paris_france_-_diliff.jpg 677w, https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/st-etienne-du-mont_interior_1_paris_france_-_diliff-300x266.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 677px) 100vw, 677px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-15512\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Saint-\u00c9tienne-du-Mont &#8211; by Diliff &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/File:St-Etienne-du-Mont_Interior_1,_Â鶹APP,_France_-_Diliff.jpg\">Wikimedia Commons<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The church was constructed in the 15th century and is an ornate combination of gothic meets renaissance design \u2014 its incredible. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The church is situated within walking distance from the Panth\u00e9on. Most people find it because they are either looking for the Panth\u00e9on itself or on their way back from it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In fact, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/10-things-to-see-in-the-latin-quarter\/\">Latin Quarter<\/a> is filled with attractions and things to do. In conjunction with the church you could also spend the day exploring the Cluny Museum just to the north, of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/why-you-need-to-visit-paris-botanical-garden\/\">Â鶹APP Botanical Gardens<\/a> a short walk to the east.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This side of the Left Bank is known for being a rambunctious place where festivities continue late into the night. You\u2019ll find many a bar or restaurant to enjoy a drink or two after your sightseeing. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">7. \u00c9glise Saint-Eustache in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">2 Impasse Saint-Eustache<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the very heart of Â鶹APP is another gem of a church unbeknownst to many who frequent this district. The \u00c9glise Saint-Eustache was built 1532 and 1642 in the 1st arrondissement of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-best-parks-and-gardens-in-paris\/\">Â鶹APP<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This is another vicinity that made a point to use a combination of gothic architecture meets renaissance design. The result is a whimsical church in the very centre of Â鶹APP; that doesn\u2019t get nearly enough recognition as it deserves.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_15513\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15513\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15513\" src=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/800px-eglise_saint-eustache_paris_1er_001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"544\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/800px-eglise_saint-eustache_paris_1er_001.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/800px-eglise_saint-eustache_paris_1er_001-300x204.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/800px-eglise_saint-eustache_paris_1er_001-768x522.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-15513\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00c9glise Saint-Eustache &#8211; by Moonik &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/File:\u00c9glise_Saint-Eustache_Â鶹APP_1er_001.JPG\">Wikimedia Commons<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The organ of the church is one of the most complex in all of Â鶹APP featuring over 8000 pipes that work together to make the magic. I was interested to learn that both Franz Liszt and Berlioz once made use of this particular organ to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-places-with-live-music-in-paris\/\">compose<\/a> some of their most iconic pieces. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The stained glass windows of this church are another sight worth noting. Visiting here during sunset on a Sunday afternoon is one of the most peaceful things you can do in this city \u2014 in my opinion!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Not far from the church is the Place des Victoires, where you can observe the official statue of Statue of Louis XIV. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">8. Saint-Paul Saint-Louis Church in Â鶹APP<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">99 Rue St. Antoine<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I couldn\u2019t let you go without introducing at least one example of Jesuit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-fun-facts-about-parisian-architecture\/\">architecture<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/12-reasons-you-should-move-to-paris\/\">Â鶹APP<\/a>; the Paroisse Saint-Paul Saint-Louis is a Roman Catholic place of worship that was built back in the 17th century. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you\u2019re partial to ornamentation, you\u2019ll love this church! Many of these artifacts were stolen from the church during the revolution, however the collection remains impressive and worth a visit if you have the chance!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Typical to Jesuit style, the church features classical Corinthian pillars. The natural light flowing through the interior is beautiful.
