If you\u2019re yet to visit this district in Â鶹APP you have much to look forward to. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Expect some of Â鶹APP\u2019 most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-ethical-fashion-stores-in-paris\/\">fashionable<\/a> individuals, street cafes filled with happy diners, boutiques hosing some of the most creative works on the market. Le Marais is a place where people go to enjoy life \u2014 rather than just watch it pass by. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Normally the attractive nature of districts like this in Â鶹APP tend to result in them being overly crowded by tourists. Somehow this is not the case in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-best-restaurants-in-le-marais\/\"> Le Marais.<\/a> The streets are busting, yes; but never in a sense of frenzy, more so in mutual enjoyment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Finding hidden gems in Le Marais in 2019 is like looking for a needle in a haystack. They\u2019re there, they\u2019re just really, really camouflaged into the rest of the chaotic Â鶹APPian scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This is a list of some of the better ones that I\u2019ve stumble across. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/tour\/paris-walking-tours\/trendy-marais-tour\/?utm_source=Blog\"><span class=\"s3\">free guided walking tour<\/span><\/a> of the neighborhood is another great way to make sure nothing is left out. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Lets go!<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">The Moonshiner in Le Marais<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">5 Rue Sedaine<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Pay close attention\u2026 I\u2019m about to let you in on one of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-best-streets-in-le-marais\/\"> Le Marais<\/a>\u2019 best kept secrets. <em>The Moonshiner<\/em> is a prohibition themed bar with an entrance that is as secret as the space itself. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Unless you\u2019ve been told specifically where to go, or you\u2019re following some locals, you will never find the Moonshiner. Read on and I might just tell you how to get to it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Moonshiner space can be best described as a chamber of sorts. The atmosphere is that of a boozy 1920s jazz club. They feature all the classics you know and love as well as a wide selection of creative options that the mixologists have made up themselves. Since the bar tries to keep the the speakeasy theme, the drinks are all reasonably priced \u2014 just like back in the prohibition days. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The great thing about this bar being such a well kept secret is that you\u2019ll never be bombarded by tourists taking selfies or barely legal teens looking for a night out. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It is escapism at it\u2019s finest. One minute you\u2019re on the street of Le Marais, just a few minutes walk from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/things-to-do-near-bastille-in-paris\/\">Bastille<\/a> square, the next you\u2019re deep in the roaring Â鶹APPian 20s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">So how do you get in? The entrance to The Moonshiner is situated inside of the pizzeria that you\u2019ll find at 5 Rue Sedaine.<em> Da Vito<\/em> pizzeria is a popular spot amongst Le Marais local, but even most of them aren\u2019t aware of the secret bar hidden in the back.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14880\" style=\"width: 644px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14880\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14880\" src=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/photo-1500217052183-bc01eee1a74e.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"634\" height=\"949\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/photo-1500217052183-bc01eee1a74e.jpg 617w, https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/photo-1500217052183-bc01eee1a74e-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 634px) 100vw, 634px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14880\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Classic cocktail &#8211; Jakub Dziubak &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/photos\/gj7BLlSzIFs\">Unsplash<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">To get into The Moonshiner enter Da Vitos and walk to the very back of the restaurant. You\u2019ll come to a door that appears to be the entrance to the chiller. Push it open and you\u2019ll find it is in fact the entry point to the prohibition bar. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Da Vitos is a great little spot for a bit to eat before heading back in time. They have delicious pizzas and cater well to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/the-best-healthy-restaurants-in-paris\/\">vegetarians<\/a> too. Best to line the stomach with something before you go looking for The Moonshiner \u2014 you won\u2019t be leaving here until the early hours of the morning. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Average cost: Under \u20ac20<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Rue des Barres in Le Marais<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Because this road is so close to the edge of Le Marais it often goes unexplored by the passers by. Rue des Barres is situated right by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/things-to-do-near-the-seine-river-paris\/\">Seine<\/a> and is referred to those who know of its existence as \u201cone of the most charming roads in all of Â鶹APP\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I must humbly agree. So much of Â鶹APP <i>is<\/i> undoubtably picturesque\u2026 roads like Rue des Barres need special vocabulary to capture their charm. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There are two things to look out for when walking the Rue de Barres. The first is \u00c9glise Saint-Gervais, one of the oldest still standing churches in all of Â鶹APP. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Whether you walk through this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/why-is-the-church-of-saint-germain-des-pres-so-special\/\">church<\/a> or just stick to the exterior it is always a welcome sight to see in Le Marais. If you can go inside I would recommended doing so. The church is known for its incredible stain glass windows that glisten with the sun rays all through the day. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The second spot to look out for on this road is a little cafe called <em>L\u2019Ebouillante<\/em>. In the warmer months you can get lost in hours of wine and conversation at the terrace seating. They make wonderful salads that are perfect in the heat.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14882\" style=\"width: 774px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14882\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14882\" src=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/church_of_st-gervais-et-st-protais_interior_2_paris_france_-_diliff.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"764\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/church_of_st-gervais-et-st-protais_interior_2_paris_france_-_diliff.jpg 764w, https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/church_of_st-gervais-et-st-protais_interior_2_paris_france_-_diliff-300x236.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 764px) 100vw, 764px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14882\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Church of St-Gervais-et-St-Protais &#8211; by Diliff &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/File:Church_of_St-Gervais-et-St-Protais_Interior_2,_Â鶹APP,_France_-_Diliff.jpg\">Wikimedia Commons<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Being so near to the water of the Seine, Rue des Barres is the perfect place to begin a sunset stroll. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Rue des Barres is also situated in very close proximity to <i>Cit\u00e9 Internationale des Arts<\/i> in Â鶹APP, which is something I encourage all up and coming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-artworks-to-hunt-down-in-paris\/\">artists<\/a> to look into. It is a residency within Le Marais that is not widely known \u2014 it offers opportunity for creatives to stay and create in Â鶹APP for certain periods of time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Le Marais may be trendy and hip, but its essence is that of an artists hub. Places like the Rue des Barress and <i>Cit\u00e9 Internationale<\/i> keep it to its routes. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p8\"><span class=\"s1\">Caf\u00e9 de la Gare in Le Marais<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p9\"><span class=\"s1\">41 Rue du Temple<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Caf\u00e9 de la Gare is a 300 seater theatre that has somehow stayed vastly under the radar in terms of mainstream Â鶹APPian entertainment since its founding in 1969.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The space is tiny. At first glance you\u2019d never say that there was a full theatre hidden within the premises. From the outside Caf\u00e9 de la Gare looks like any other Le Marais based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/where-to-find-paris-coziest-cafes\/\">cafe<\/a>.
