The one nestled into the hills that isn\u2019t always part of the rest of the Â鶹APPian chaos. Taking direction from those who have gone before you is a sure way to mapping out the most inclusive route possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The second way to uncover a neighborhoods lesser known attractions is just to walk. This is exactly how I was able to find the hidden gems in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/things-to-do-from-montmartre-to-the-champs-elysees\/\">Montmartre<\/a> that I\u2019m going to tell you all about. I walked &amp; walked; aimlessly but observantly. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Montmartre\u2019s narrow streets and cobble stone grounds make it the perfect district to explore by foot. Traffic is virtually unheard of here and the winding roads make for great exercise. It is filled with paintings and posters that do just that. Decades of Montmartre history captured through an array of curated content. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Not many people know that the Montmartre Museum shares the land with a tea room hideaway right there in the gardens. The landscape of the premises is historic in itself because it is where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/5-interesting-facts-about-the-french-painter-renoir\/\">Renoir<\/a> once sat and created some of his best known masterpieces. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The artist made the space his workshop from 1876. <i>Bal du Moulin de la Galette<\/i> is a piece that was inspired by this land. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The landscape has since been referred to as Renoir\u2019s gardens and nestled within them is a very small and very secret little tea room that is, surprisingly, open to the public. Their home-made iced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/best-tea-salons-in-paris\/\">tea<\/a> is wonderful on a summers day along with one of their fresh baked pastries to compliment it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The great thing about this tea room being so hidden and unknown is that you\u2019ll likely always have the space to yourself. Peace and quiet for a few moments as you take in the gardens and consider what it was that Renoir felt when channeling his inspiration from the very same spot. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I like to take a book with me and settle in for a few hours. They have a range of teas to try that will keep you satisfied for more than just a quick visit. If you happen to be in the area with friends then this is still a great place to wander into for a coffee and a cake before continuing on your day of exploration. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Average cost: Under \u20ac10<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Museum admission: \u20ac9.50<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s1\">Garden entry only: \u20ac4<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Clos Montmartre<\/span><\/h4>\n<h6 class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s1\">Rue des Saules<\/span><\/h6>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As you leave our gem of a tea garden and the Montmartre Museum premises, continue down Rue Cortot and make a right at the end of the road onto Rue des Saules. Our next hidden gem in Montmartre actually shares land with the afore mentioned gardens of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-artworks-to-hunt-down-in-paris\/\">Renoir<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Toward the middle of the street you\u2019ll come to the entrance of the Clos vineyard. However you will still be able to admire the scenery over the light wire fencing that encloses the property. The shrubs and flowers that share that space with the grapes makes for a whimsical treat of a stroll through the suburban street. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The vineyard is still in full production and produces almost 1500 bottles of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/where-to-buy-wine-in-paris\/\">wine<\/a> per year that are sold to the public. This wont be the most delectable wine you taste in France, but you\u2019ll feel satisfied knowing that every cent of profit that the Clos vineyard makes goes toward funding of Montmartre community projects.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Every year, post harvest, the vineyard also hosts a little wine festival that is open to the public. Studio 28 is a hybrid space that was founded in 1928 (go figure). <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s main function is of an art house <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/10-best-cinemas-in-paris\/\">cinema<\/a> with a retro flair. The space also houses a fabulous bar area as well as a cafe and a garden. You are pretty much guaranteed to be entertained by this little Montmartre treasure. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Everything about Studio 28 screams blast from the past. I love coming here on a random day and just watching whatever is showing the hour I arrive, without any prior research or expectation. The same is entirely true for me too. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Upon mentioning to a friend how much I enjoy meandering the Montmartre streets <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/a-walk-in-la-villette\/\">by foot<\/a> she asked if I\u2019d yet to pass by this mysterious location. Since the entrance to Hotel Particulier lies on a secret passage-like street the answer was no. The space is almost completely sealed off from prying eyes thanks to the tick foliage that encompasses the property. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This 19th century mansion was converted into a hotel in recent years and is where most of the Hollywood A-listers stay when visiting Â鶹APP. They love that the property is so hidden and that the neighborhood itself is so enchanting. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The hotel bar goes by the name Tr\u00e8s Particulier and serves up some of the tastiest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/where-to-drink-champagne-in-paris\/\">cocktails<\/a> this side of Â鶹APP. Both the bar and restaurant are open to the public for enjoyment in spite of being completely reserved for guests in recent years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The space is beautifully decorated with a 1930s tropical vibe. I enjoy visiting the hotel on Saturday or Sunday mornings when there is a full brunch spread. The Montmartre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/5-iconic-grave-sites-you-need-to-visit-in-paris\/\">Cemetery<\/a> has all the charm and appeal of the other Â鶹APPian cemeteries but on a more manageable scale. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Seeing the flowers and greenery emerge from the cracks in the cobblestone pathways is notably calming. The cemetery is also home to some well known writers and artists from centuries gone by. Walk amongst the tomb stones and see if any right a bell! <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"p9\"><span class=\"s1\">The Last Windmills of Montmartre <\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">During the 16th century onward, the district of Montmartre was occupied by over a dozen grand scale windmills. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In French, \u2018moulin\u2019 means windmill. So technically the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-5-fun-facts-about-the-moulin-rouge\/\"> Moulin Rouge<\/a> constitutes as one of the structures erected during this era. Collectively these two windmills are referred to as <i>Le Moulin de la Galette. <\/i>Individually they are &#8216;Le Moulin Blute-Fin&#8217; and &#8216;Le Moulin Radet\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Taking an hour or two to track down the last windmills of Montmartre is a great alternative activity to the usual Â鶹APPian excursions. The first, Le Moulin Blute-Fin, stands on now-private property over on rue Lepic \u2014 it is still completely viewable from street level and worth the walk over. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Le Moulin Radet is a few minutes away on rue Girardon. The main character Am\u00e9lie lives an exciting life in Montmartre and works daily in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/where-to-find-paris-coziest-cafes\/\">cafe<\/a>. Cafe des Deux Moulins is the restaurant that was used or the film. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Fans of <i>Am\u00e9lie <\/i>will enjoy spending some time in the same place where her character did. Try the Am\u00e9lie salad if you\u2019re in the mood to eat! One of these with a cup of coffee is a perfect way to enjoy a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwalks.com\/blog\/top-10-free-things-to-do-in-paris-in-winter\/\">wintery<\/a> evening in Montmartre.
