Get ready, wine lovers! Prague is rolling out the red carpet  or should we say, the red wine \u2013 for Pinot Noir Day on 18th August, 2024. This is not just any old wine tasting. It is a journey through time, starting way back when Czech King Charles IV first planted these special grapes.<\/p>\n

The star of the show? The St. Klara Vineyard, nestled in the beautiful Troja area. This place is not just pretty, it has some serious wine cred. They have been growing Pinot Noir (which the locals call “Rulandske modre”) since way before your great-grandparents were born.<\/p>\n

A Taste of Prague’s Liquid Gold<\/h3>\n

Here is the scoop: For just 250 Czech crowns (that is about 10 bucks), you get to try 4 different Pinot Noirs. We are talking wines from 2018, 2019, and 2021. But wait, there is more! They are also pouring a fancy sparkling rose from 2023. It is like a time machine for your taste buds!<\/p>\n

“Each year gives the wine its own personality,” says, a local wine expert. “You might taste berries in one sip, then earthy flavours in another. It’s amazing how one type of grape can create so many different experiences.”<\/p>\n

No Snobs Allowed: Wine for Everyone<\/h3>\n

Do not worry if you can’t tell a Merlot from a milkshake. This event is for everyone, from total newbies to wine pros. The friendly folks at St. Klara Vineyard are all about making wine fun and easy to understand.<\/p>\n

“We want people to relax and enjoy,” vineyard manager tells us. “There is no wrong way to taste wine. If you like it, that’s all that matters!”<\/p>\n

More than Just Sipping<\/h3>\n

While the wine is the main event, there’s plenty more to see. The St. Klara Vineyard is part of Prague’s Botanical Garden. So after you have had your fill of Pinot, you can wander through beautiful flowers and plants from all over the world.<\/p>\n

The St. Klara wine shop is open Monday to Friday from 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM, and on weekends and holidays from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. No need to book ahead \u2013 just show up ready to sip and learn.<\/p>\n

For the wine wizard or just wine-curious, Prague’s Pinot Noir Day is the perfect excuse to raise a glass and toast to good times. After all, in the words of Czech writer Bohumil Hrabal, “He who does not love wine, women, and song remains a fool his whole life long.”<\/em> Cheers to that!<\/p>\n

Admission:<\/strong> Tokens for the mini-tasting available for purchase in the wine shop on the day of the event \u2013 CZK 250* for 4 samples.<\/h6>\n
Getting There:<\/strong>  Take the bus (numbers 112 or 234) to the “Kov\u00e1rna” stop. From there, it’s a short, scenic walk through the vineyard to reach wine paradise.<\/h6>\n
