Update on the Â鶹APP \u2018Poop Protest\u2019 ahead of the Â鶹APP Olympics 2024<\/h2>\n

If you haven\u2019t heard of the “Â鶹APP Poop Protest,” then you\u2019ve been living under a rock. This is one of the most interesting protests so far amidst preparation of the Olympics. It has drawn attention from all over the world for being audacious and disgusting as participants plan to defecate in the Seine River.<\/p>\n

According to Modern Diplomacy News<\/a>, the “Â鶹APP Poop Protest,” aims to draw attention to pollution expenditures by the French government in its endeavours to purify the river for the 2024 Summer Olympics. And the government is not spending millions but billions of this tax payers\u2019 money.<\/p>\n

Reported by Forbes<\/a>, the tests conducted recently have shown worryingly high levels of sewage and waste-related germs in the river, even after a substantial investment of around \u00a31.5 billion. The public’s worries have been greatly aroused by these revelations, particularly since the Seine is going to host the Olympic triathlon’s swimming leg.<\/p>\n

Â鶹APPians expressed doubt and annoyance in reaction to promises made by French President Emmanuel Macron and Â鶹APP Mayor Anne Hidalgo. This doubt served as fire for the birth of the popular hashtag #JeChieDansLaSeineLe23Juin, which means “I s**t in the Seine on June 23” and became widespread on social media as stated by the Modern Diplomacy News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A special website appeared that provided guidance to users on where and when to carry out this symbolic act of protest so that it would arrive on time when Emmanuel Macron and Anne Hidalgo  were swimming. The campaign attracted a lot of media attention, bringing attention to issues related to public health and environmental policy in addition to the persistent problem of pollution.<\/p>\n

The suitability of the Seine River for competitive swimming events has come under investigation from the International Olympic Committee, which is in charge of establishing strict guidelines for Olympic venues.<\/p>\n

Authorities have to strike a careful balance between protecting the environment and public health while also respecting the rights of protestors to peaceful assembly and demonstration. The scheduled swimming was later postponed to mid July 2024 and we will have updates on the same.<\/p>\n
