 <\/span>Thousands of Aer Lingus passengers are set to face travel disruptions as the airline prepares to cancel between 10% and 20% of flights from June 26th to June 30th due to industrial action by pilots. The work-to-rule initiated by members of the Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA) has prompted the airline to take this unprecedented step, affecting up to 40,000 passengers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Passengers travelling during this period will receive notifications if their flights are impacted. In response, Aer Lingus is offering affected customers the option to change their flights for free or to cancel their booking and claim a refund or voucher.<\/span><\/p>\n

The industrial action stems from a dispute over pay, with IALPA members demanding a 24% pay rise after 22 months of ongoing negotiations with management. Aer Lingus has expressed understanding for the anxiety experienced by its customers and emphasized the impact the dispute could have on travel during the peak holiday season.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a statement, Aer Lingus stated that the cancellations are intended to protect as many services as possible for its customers while expressing openness to direct discussions with IALPA to reach a reasonable settlement. The airline also seeks intervention from the Workplace Relations Commission to aid in resolving the situation.<\/span><\/p>\n
