Assembly is its name, and it\u2019s being described as \u2018the City\u2019s first modern amphitheater\u2019 and \u2018the first in the City in 2.000 years.\u2019 History buffs might scoff at the description, but its supporters have pointed out the existence of a much older Roman amphitheatre discovered nearby in 1988. At a 50-seat capacity, Assembly is undeniably much smaller than its Roman counterpart.<\/p>\n

  Located in the Maughan Library Courtyard of King’s College London, this 50-seat outdoor performance venue was designed by Urban Radicals, AKT II and Millimetre. The design was presented at the London Festival of Architecture 2024. Assembly, recently opened, will be hosting free programs in the city over the next few months. These will include lectures, workshops, panel discussions. On July 3, 9 and 31 from 5.30 pm, the venue will air Shakespeare\u2019s \u2018A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream.<\/p>\n

Despite its size, the Assembly offers a chance for its visitors to experience a wide range of artistic expression in a unique setting. Some opine that it represents a new chapter for public performance in the city. Upcoming programs are available on the website.<\/a><\/p>\n
