The Hungarian National Museum in Budapest is a gold mine for all history lovers out there, well, maybe not literal gold, but its close. Anyone whose been here can attest to the impressive collections of permanent artefacts as well as temporary exhibitions.<\/p>\n

Many fear visiting museums thinking they will get bored to death but not this museum. There is something for everyone, whether you love glittering crowns or old centuries carvings. Lucky for you, the Hungarian National Museum<\/a>, is offering special exhibitions and programmes for guests of all ages.<\/p>\n

First, the Altamira Cave exhibition<\/a><\/em> on May 30, 2024, at 17:00. Spain’s Altamira is home to some of the most well-known prehistoric paintings in the entire world. These magnificent representations of bison, which date back 16,000 years, cleverly use the natural curves of the cave to give the animals a three-dimensional appearance.<\/p>\n

The Hungarian National Museum’s display presents these works of art in their original dimensions, giving you the impression that you are actually within the cave.<\/p>\n

Discover intriguing similarities between the artistic expressions of the Hungarian artists who were the Altamira artists’ contemporaries as you explore and come across not only these striking images but also their hunting weapons and embellished artefacts. Imagine admiring this exhibition for just HUF 800\/person.<\/p>\n

Another exciting exhibition is the “Light of Pannonia – The Seuso Treasure<\/a><\/em>” happening on May 31, 2024, at 15:30. One of the most important collections of late Roman silver is on display in this permanent exhibition.<\/p>\n

With its elaborate goldsmithing, the Seuso treasure tells the story of the battles, heroes, myths, and everyday lives of the Pannonian nobility more than a millennium ago. The MNM ticket office is where your adventure starts, transporting guests. Overall, this treasure is a must-see.<\/p>\n

And if you find that thrilling, just wait until May 31, 2024, when Archaeology Day takes place. “The Dark Side of Archaeology: Unlimited Archaeology – Stories That Cross Borders”<\/a> is on display at the museum from 10:00 to 18:00.<\/p>\n

The National Institute of Archaeology’s June 1, 2024, Night of Archaeology flows naturally from this exciting event. Under the museum’s historic roof, take in mediaeval duels, ancient gladiator fights, and even a joint Renaissance dance.<\/p>\n
