Commuters travelling between Liverpool Street and Chingford may face disruption in July-August 2024, as the railway will be closed for 16 days. Both London Overground and Greater Anglia services will be affected by the closure due to an ongoing road bridge replacement project north of Hackney Downs station. The project is expected to replace the existing bridge, which is already closed to vehicular traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to The <\/span>Londonist<\/span><\/a>, the closure will begin on 20 July 2024 and will last until 4 August 2024. During this period, there will be no London Overground services between Hackney Downs and Chingford. As a result, commuters will not be able to avail of the services at Clapton, St James Street, Walthamstow Central, Wood Street, Highams Park and Chingford stations. However, services between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town\/Cheshunt will operate as usual and serve all stops, including those between Liverpool Street and Hackney Downs. These trains may run on a different timetable than usual.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, Greater Anglia services that usually run between Liverpool Street and Hertford East will start and finish at Stratford instead of Liverpool Street. The usual Stratford to Meridian Water services won’t run during this period, but other services will make additional stops at both Meridian Water and Northumberland Park. Liverpool Street to Cambridge\/Stansted Airport services will call at Seven Sisters instead of Tottenham Hale, while Bishop’s Stortford to Stratford services will not operate.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Victoria line to and from Walthamstow Central will run as usual, and local bus services will also operate during the period. However, commuters are advised to check the Network Rail website for details and the latest updates and to check their journey before setting off. Additionally, some services will be altered in the preceding weeks to allow for preparation works.<\/span><\/p>\n
