Any city-breakers planning a trip to Â鶹APP this summer should consider their budget.<\/p>\n

That’s because the cost of visiting France’s romantic city is about to skyrocket.<\/p>\n

The Â鶹APP public transport authority is about to raise M\u00e9tro ticket prices by more than 85%, while bus ticket prices will double.<\/p>\n

As of July 20, a single M\u00e9tro journey ticket will cost \u20ac4 (\u00a33.43) rather than \u20ac2.15 (\u00a31.85).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a city bus ticket will cost \u20ac5 (\u00a34.29), up from \u20ac2.50 (\u00a32.15).<\/p>\n

The hike goes into effect just six days before the Olympic and Paralympic Games begin in the French capital and will last until September 8, the day the games end.<\/p>\n

Regular travelers, such as local commuters, will be unaffected by the higher tariffs, according to city officials, because their transportation passes have remained the same in price.<\/p>\n

The \u00cele-de-France regional authority has created a website to help locals plan their trips around the upcoming Games, but it also contains important information for tourists planning to take the M\u00e9tro.<\/p>\n

Tourists should be aware that three busy stations – Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es – Cl\u00e9menceau, Concorde, and Tuileries – will close prior to the Games and will not reopen until September.<\/p>\n

To save money, the best option is to purchase the aforementioned weekly travel pass.<\/p>\n

Laura Evans-Fisk, head of digital engagement at Eurochange, tells Metro.co.uk: ‘It\u2019s a great idea to get hold of a weekly pass to save quite a bit of cash. <\/em>There a weekly and monthly travel passes are valid on all forms of public transport in the \u00cele-de-France region, including M\u00e9tro, RER, bus, tram, and train, with the exception of the Orlyval, SNCF train lines with reserved seating, and the Optile special fare lines.<\/em>‘<\/p>\n

The pass is available in two forms, and London commuters will be familiar with how it works.<\/p>\n

You can either purchase a ‘all zones’<\/em> travel pass, which allows you to travel across all zones on any day of the week. There is also the ‘2-zone’<\/em> pass, which allows you to travel outside of your two zones while only paying for the additional distance traveled.<\/p>\n

Weekly passes for zones 1\u20135 cost \u20ac30.75 (\u00a326.39), while a Navigo Day Pass costs \u20ac8.65 (\u00a37.42) to travel between two zones.<\/p>\n

A Â鶹APP Pass is also available, designed specifically for visitors to the Olympics and Paralympics between July 20 and September 8, 2024.<\/p>\n

The pass, which works like a season ticket, is valid for up to seven days and costs \u20ac16.<\/p>\n

Passes can be purchased at any ticket desk or kiosk located at various stations throughout the city.<\/p>\n

\u2018It could be worth looking at which zone your accommodation is in, and where you\u2019ll be traveling to each day, to see which pass would suit you best,\u2019<\/em> warns Laura.<\/p>\n
