Istanbul, May 6th, 2024 – In a remarkable display of national unity, cycling enthusiasts from all corners of Turkiye took to the streets this weekend for the 11th annual Yesilay (Green Crescent) Bicycle Tour. The cross-country event, held simultaneously in in over 80 provinces. The aim was to raise awareness about addiction and promote healthy lifestyles through the an active life.<\/p>\n

A Nationwide Call for Well-Being<\/h3>\n

From the coastal roads of Istanbul to the mountain trails of Erzurum, an estimated 2,000 athletes answered the call to join the Yesilay tour. Governors, officials, and community leaders echoed the importance of using physical activity as a positive alternative to addiction.  <\/p>\n

“Sports are the most effective tool for combating addiction,” stated Istanbul Governor Davut Gul before the race. “Cycling, in particular, is an enjoyable way to foster well-being.”<\/p>\n

Braving the Elements for a Worthy Cause <\/h3>\n

Despite varying weather conditions across the country, participants showed unwavering determination. In Erzurum and Ardahan, cyclists braved rain and cold to advocate for active lifestyles and community engagement.  <\/p>\n

“Our goal is to promote healthy living and fight addiction through sports,” said Emirhan Tanay, President of the Yesilay Erzurum Branch.<\/p>\n
