On the third Sunday of every month, a ceremony steeped in history and tradition takes place in Lisbon, Portugal. Held at the National Palace of Bel\u00e9m, the official residence of the President of the Republic, the Changing of the Guard ceremony is a captivating spectacle that enthralls both visitors and residents. It is a free and popular event, so crowds are often expected.<\/p>\n

The ceremony features the esteemed Republican National Guard (GNR), entrusted with the important duty of safeguarding the President.  At precisely 11:00 am, a sense of anticipation builds as the outgoing and incoming guards take their positions. A clarion call from the clarinet quartet  signals the start of the event, followed by the national anthem.<\/p>\n

It unfolds with a series of meticulously executed maneuvers, showcasing the guards’ stellar skills. Crisp salutes, synchronized marching, and the stoic expressions of the guards create an impressive scene.<\/p>\n
