In a move to maintain the growing crowds drawn by social media-driven food trends, Amsterdam officials have inserted a new clause in the operating permit of a popular snack bar, limiting the size of its queue.<\/p>\n

According to the Parool newspaper, the Fabel Friet food outlet has been told it cannot have more than 10 people waiting for their French fries once they have ordered. If the queue exceeds this limit, the shop will have to close its second till until the waiting customers have been served.<\/p>\n

The shop owners, however, have contested the new rule, arguing that it simply cannot be done. They have now taken the issue to court, setting the stage for a battle over the impact of social media on Amsterdam’s iconic culinary scene.
