May is the month of painting the streets red, orange, yellow\u2026any color really. With the Madeira Flower Festival 2024 commencing on May 2nd<\/sup> at 18:00, Portugal\u2019s Madeira Island will be quite the spectacle to behold. The festival will kick off at the Central Square (Placa Central), and the theme is \u2018Madeira, the magic of flowers.\u2019 Concerts, exhibitions, a classic car parade and a golf tournament are just some of the events that will mark the festivities.<\/p>\n

The festival is one of the biggest in the region, as people celebrate spring\u2019s beauty together. As such, hotel occupancy is expected to be at its highest as visitors flock the town to participate.  Set to run from May 2nd<\/sup> to May 26th<\/sup>, the festival will combining popular festival traditions and must-see attractions such as the flower carpets displays along Avenida Arriaga.<\/p>\n

The flower market will be held from 10 am every day at Avenida Arriaga\u2019s central square. The Children\u2019s Parade will be on 4th<\/sup> May, in which children adorned in costumes march from Avenida Arriaga to  Pra\u00e7a do Munic\u00edpio, each carrying a flower, which will be used to create the Wall of Hope. Afterwards, there is a children’s show.<\/p>\n

Participants can expect a lively Flower Festival Parade on 5th<\/sup> May, as decorated flower floats paint the streets with color. This will be at the Avenida do Mar, and both locals and tourists usually take part in the much awaited festivity. Other activities include flower exhibitions and workshops at the Pra\u00e7a do Povo Pavilion, which feature competitors in flower arrangements.
