Portugal’s stunning coastline has garnered renewed recognition, with two of its beaches claiming spots on BeachAtlas’<\/a> “Golden Beach Awards 2024”.  This prestigious award highlights beaches that excel in natural beauty, vibrant atmosphere, cultural richness, and historical significance.<\/p>\n

BeachAtlas, a London-based startup known for its beach guides, has introduced a more holistic approach to beach evaluation. Previously, awards often focused solely on golden sands and crystal-clear waters. BeachAtlas’  recent list incorporates factors like a beach’s unique story, connection to local communities, and overall visitor experience.<\/p>\n

After conducting a data driven research, experts and influencers voted to finalize a ranking order. BeachAtlas then unveiled an exclusive list of top 100 best beaches and Portugal claimed two spots, with one in the Top 25.<\/p>\n

Praia Dona Ana, Lagos:<\/strong> Occupying the 23rd position, Praia Dona Ana is lauded for its breathtaking scenery and historical significance. It is named after a nun who escaped a wartime atrocity through a hidden tunnel. According to the BeachAtlas\u2019 website, the beach ranked high because beyond its beauty, it \u2018holds this poignant story and it is a tribute to her resilience. It also boasts relaxing ambience and iconic landscapes, making it a popular spot to visit.<\/p>\n

Praia dos Coxos, Mafra:<\/strong> This beach secured the 58th spot, recognized for its golden sands and excellent surfing conditions. Praia dos Coxos is a favorite among surfers worldwide and frequently hosts international surfing competitions.<\/p>\n

The top five in the list are Bora Bora in French Polynesia, Boulders Beach in South Africa, Waikiki Beach in Hawaii, Copacabana in Brazil, and Maya Bay in Thailand.<\/p>\n
