Londoners have been warned by the UK Met Office of potential disruption to travel and infrastructure due to heavy rain and snowfall expected on Thursday and Friday. The heavy rain is likely to cause flooding and disruption to travel, with bus and train services expected to be affected, leading to longer journey times. The Met Office has advised citizens to check road conditions, bus and train timetables, and amend their travel plans if necessary. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to this, the Met Office has also highlighted the importance of taking precautionary measures to ensure safety during the heavy rains. Citizens have been advised to avoid starting their journeys until the rain clears, choose main roads, where they are less likely to be exposed to fallen branches debris and flooding, use dipped headlights if visibility is seriously reduced, and give vulnerable road users more room than usual.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Met Office has also asked Londoners to protect the vulnerable people they know, including older people, those with underlying conditions, and those who live alone, as they may need support with food and medical supplies. They have also encouraged citizens to be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly and stay up to date with the weather forecast in their area.<\/span><\/p>\n

The UK Met Office has also highlighted that heavy downpours are expected to continue through Thursday, with rain easing for a time Thursday evening before further spells of rain or showers arrive from the south Thursday night. The rain is expected to turn to snow in some places overnight before clearing shortly after dawn on Friday. Some disruption to travel is possible, and a few homes and businesses may be flooded. The Met Office has urged Londoners to check if their property could be at risk of flooding and prepare a flood plan and an emergency flood kit.<\/span><\/p>\n
