On the occasion of the centenary of Gustave Eiffel’s death, 2023 will be marked with tributes to him and his iconic creations. The Eiffel Tower pays homage to its creator in 2023. A UNESCO-labelled exhibition, \u201cEiffel, always higher!\u201d, curated by Savin Yeatman-Eiffel for ADGE, will be presented on the Eiffel Tower esplanade throughout the summer of 2023. The exhibition, which will be available to all, retraces Gustave Eiffel’s difficult fight to launch his project, as well as the incredible technical and aesthetic challenges that he faced.<\/span><\/p>\n

On December 27, 1923, Gustave Eiffel passed away in Â鶹APP, surrounded by his family. Aged 91, this extraordinary engineer and entrepreneur, and later a great scientist, left behind many creations and constructions, plus countless achievements and actions in support of science and technical progress. One of his finest accomplishments still presides proudly over Â鶹APP to this day. The Eiffel Tower has even become the classic symbol of the French capital and of France itself.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the 100th anniversary of Gustave Eiffel’s death, many actors, including the Eiffel Tower, the Association of the Descendants of Gustave Eiffel (ADGE) and La Poste, will be coming together to pay tribute and shine a light on his heritage and impact across an era, in many different disciplines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Immersive, 360\u00b0 experiences will soon be offered to visitors to the monument via their smartphone. By scanning a QR code displayed at various spots around the monument, Gustave Eiffel will appear to tell the story of the Tower to visitors, thanks to superimposition augmented reality technology. They will see key moments in the monument’s history before their very eyes.   <\/span><\/p>\n

In late 2023, French DJ and producer Michael Canitrot and the Eiffel Tower will unveil an unprecedented artistic collaboration, combining music and the monument’s illuminations. This experience also aims to raise awareness around the importance of preserving our heritage for future generations.<\/span><\/p>\n

La Poste is producing a commemorative sheet of stamps in honour of Gustave Eiffel. This tribute to the man and creator features Eiffel’s face, with his most iconic work behind him: the Eiffel Tower. The stamp sheet, printed in intaglio, was engraved by artist Sarah Lazarevic. <\/span><\/p>\n

The stamp sheet was rolled out on March 27, 2023, in \u201cLe Carr\u00e9 d\u2019Encre\u201d boutiques and certain post offices, as well as by subscription or correspondence to Philaposte and on La Poste’s website.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Association of the Descendants of Gustave Eiffel (ADGE), which represents around fifty of his descendants, is organizing a number of initiatives in 2023, to introduce people to Gustave Eiffel’s major works and shine a spotlight on the man, the researcher, the engineer, the scientist, the creator. <\/span><\/p>\n

ADGE has launched an Eiffel 2023 tour with a package of events and experiences related to Gustave Eiffel, which will be hosted in many cities and institutions in France and overseas with the Eiffel Tower in Â鶹APP will be the centre stage of these events.<\/span><\/p>\n
