Newcastle secure a top-four finish after a Draw against Leceister<\/h3>\n

They stumbled over the finish line, dominating despite Leicester’s stifling. The hardest points to win are always the last few.<\/p>\n

Eddie Howe’s team earned the crucial point to guarantee a top-four finish and a spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season. The rigors of the actual game had been forgotten by the time Newcastle’s stars were leading a lap of honor in front of their adoring supporters. City put up a very strong effort, twice having shots stopped by the woodwork in the first half as they played a suffocating, deep-lying defense with five defenders and three stacked midfielders.<\/p>\n

However, given the lack of adventure, City had little opportunity of scoring. After 64 minutes, they earned their first corner.<\/p>\n

With Joelinton limping out of warm-up and local lad Elliot Anderson being called up to start five minutes before kickoff, the Toon had their own last-minute injury switch.<\/p>\n

It was flat, despite the build-up’s electrifying atmosphere. Bruno Guimaraes”studs above the knee’ tackle on Boubakary Soumare was extremely fortunate not to result in a foul. VAR reviewed it, but Andre Marriner’s decision to display a yellow remained the same.<\/p>\n

While Leicester couldn’t get close to the home goal, Miggy Almiron and Anderson both struck shots that David Iverson stopped.<\/p>\n

After 40 minutes, Callum Wilson hit the post and then attempted to score with a header, but Wilfred Ndidi successfully cleared the goal line.<\/p>\n

After Fab Schar’s head down, Almiron struck the post two minutes later, and from the rebound, Alexander Isak missed the target.<\/p>\n

Following a series of missed opportunities, Wilson got a fantastic opportunity at the back post from a corner from Kieran Tripper but headed over.<\/p>\n

Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the chairman of Newcastle and the head of PIF and LIV golf, received a standing ovation from the home crowd as he participated in a shooting game with co-owners Jamie Reuben and Mehrdad Ghodoussi during halftime.<\/p>\n

Iverson made a spectacular save on Isak’s top-corner shot after the break after Almiron had set him up.<\/p>\n
