French phenom projects the most painful thing that could happen to him in the NBA<\/h2>\n

Everything looks in order as Victor Wembanyama gets ready to join the NBA come June 22, 2023. Victor is touted as the highest prospect to ever get in the NBA 20 years later after LeBron James in 2003. He is set to be the first overall pick and every team’s only focus solely lies in landing the French prodigy.<\/p>\n

Wembanyama is physically suited to rule on both ends of the court at 7’4″ tall and with a wingspan of about 8 feet. But his talent and overall playing style are what has set him apart.<\/p>\n

He possesses a quick first step and strong ball-handling skills despite his height, which allow him to quickly get past the defence and make his shot. His shooting is smooth and fluid, extending beyond the three-point line.<\/p>\n

He is also a great rim protector and a disruptive force in passing lanes on defense thanks to his length and quickness.<\/p>\n

All these are some aspects that make Wembanyama exceptional but that does not remove all the doubt on Victor\u2019s side. Victor looks like he has some concerning issue that might be a big hindrance to his playing days in the NBA.<\/p>\n

What is Wembanyama\u2019s biggest fear?<\/h3>\n

Being dubbed the unicorn does not eliminate the possibility of some shortcomings coming about along the way. In an interview with NBA Today, Wembanyama revealed what could be the most painful incident in his NBA career.<\/p>\n

Wembanyama said, \u201cI know there are so many games in the NBA season that\u2019s hard for players, especially players with a lot of intensity who play a lot of minutes. Obviously, it\u2019s hard to play all 82 games, but, you know some players are built a certain way, like, yeah, others gotta rest sometimes.<\/p>\n

Obviously, my goal is always going to be to play the most games I can and to help my team as much as I can. \u2026 You know, being a leader, it\u2019s always hard to be on the side, to not be able to play or to just be resting when the others, you see all your teammates working.<\/p>\n

So, it\u2019s always going to be my priority to be available for my guys and for my teammates to help them as much as I can. So, every time I have to step on the side, it\u2019s always going to be painful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wembanyama does not like the idea of staying on the bench because of injuries and that would be one of the most painful things that could happen to him.<\/p>\n

Transitioning to the NBA though could be challenging for Wembanyama as he will be forced to play more games than what he has been used to playing while still a member of Boulogne-Levallois.<\/p>\n

The NBA’s regular season, which runs from October through April, requires each team to play 82 games. The league’s playoffs competition runs until June.<\/p>\n

82 is a noteworthy number given that the Mets 92’s 34-game regular season schedule from September 23 to May 16\u2014less than half the number of games in the NBA regular season\u2014is a substantial portion of their overall calendar. Wemby will look to adjust his game style to match that of the NBA.<\/p>\n

Many questions have been raised if Wembanayama will be able to withstand the NBA intensity. Some have speculated that due to his build, injuries might be a major hindrance to his career.<\/p>\n

But Victor does not seem to relent and continues to put in more work to be fit for the NBA. His special program involves Guillaume Alquier who is a strength and conditioning coach that has been instrumental in preparing Wembanyama for the NBA.<\/p>\n

Victor\u2019s Dallas-based agent Bouna Ndiaye is confident that they are doing everything to get Wembanyama NBA-ready when June 22 comes and it is only a matter of time before we see if this will come to pass.<\/p>\n
