One of the most anticipated fashion events of the year, 2023 will be taking place on the 1st<\/sup> of May, that\u2019s right, it\u2019s the Met Gala. The event brings together models, influencers, and celebrities to show off their magnificent ensembles while making a bold fashion statement. The thrilling theme this year is \u201cKarl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty\u201d making this year\u2019s Met Gala larger and better than ever, I literally have chills. The theme celebrates the legacy of the famous fashion designer, best known for his work at Chanel, Chlo\u00e9, and his own label.<\/p>\n

However, as the event approaches, it becomes more and more obvious that some of the biggest names in the entertainment sector won’t be attending, and frankly it\u2019s upsetting. I know you\u2019ve been hearing rumours as to who might miss the event but this time it has been confirmed that fan\u2019s absolute favourite; Blake Lively won’t be going to the Met Gala this year [side-eye emoji].<\/p>\n

The disappointing news came in after Blake informed the media that, we “will not” see her at the Met Gala this year while she was donning a brown midi dress with a plunging neckline, “But I’ll be watching,” Blake added. This was during the opening of the Tiffany & Co. store in New York on Thursday, April 27. Then she made a joke about wearing her 2022 Met Gala attire “on my couch on Monday.”<\/p>\n

Even though Blake won’t be walking the famous carpeted steps, the biggest day in fashion will undoubtedly feature other stunning outfits. Penelope Cruz, Kendal Jenner, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, Elle Fanning, Kim Kardashian, Derek Glasberg, Chloe Fineman and Emma Chamberlain are some of the guests who are expected to grace their appearances at the red carpet moment. In addition Pen\u00e9lope Cruz, Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel, and tennis player Roger Federer have been confirmed to be this year’s co-chairs.<\/p>\n

The annual Met Gala has always featured Blake as a mainstay, she always steals the show. I know we are supposed to be understanding considering the actress recently gave birth to her fourth child, in the month of February, but why!!!. I still can\u2019t comprehend that I won\u2019t be seeing Blake at all, I\u2019m clearly still in denial and it seems that I am not alone on this boat, fans are beyond pissed that they won’t get to see Blake Lively perform her yearly strut down the red carpet.<\/p>\n

On social media, fans lashed out at Lively for missing the occasion when E! News announced that Lively would be skipping the event on Instagram. They left comments like , \u201cMet gala is ruined! [side-eye emoji]\u201d,”But Blake Lively is the Met Gala?”, \u201cmet gala should be cancelled.\u201d One person said, “But she’s the queen of the met!!!” I know how hard it may seem but sweetie, without Blake Lively, the show will still have to go on.<\/p>\n

The actress has been serving stunning looks since day one on the Met Gala alongside her husband Ryan Reynolds whom she has been married to since 2012. The two are already parents to James, 8, Betty, 3, and Inez. One of my favourite looks of the actress is the look she wore on May 2, 2022, in New York City, at the 2022 Met Gala, a gown that was inspired by statue of liberty that revealed a new colour at the red carpet.<\/p>\n

The absence of this stunning queen from this 2023 Met Gala will undoubtedly leave a conspicuous gap that will be felt by everyone. Regardless of the reasons for their absence, it is obvious that the Met Gala will not be the same. Feelings aside, I know that this 2023 Met Gala will undoubtedly be a great occasion with magnificent attire, spellbinding performances, and unforgettable memories. As we anticipate the event, we can only hope that those who will be absent this year will make a spectacular comeback in the next year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n
