French Phenom Weaknesses revealed<\/h2>\n

Victor Wembanyama has been grabbing the headlines and it\u2019s all for good reasons. The 7\u20194\u201d Metropolitans 92 Center has been nothing of exceptional in his playtime both for the club and the national team. Wembanyama has been the face of success thanks to his in-court manoeuvres doing pretty much his talking. He has taken the basketball world by storm and he looks to continue his upward trajectory in the NBA. He recently declared for the 2023 NBA draft set for June 22, 2023, and all teams are salivating at the idea of landing him.<\/p>\n

Wembanyama progress so far has been admirable to the point that he has been dubbed a unicorn but unicorns too have their faults and weaknesses. Wembanyama might be the highest touted basketball prospect in two decades but that does not mean he doesn’t have his shortcomings. It is not a new thing for young athletes as they are still developing and learning their skills in the game. To be able to attain his potential, Wembanyama will have to put in work to eliminate his weaknesses.<\/p>\n

So, what are Wembanyama’s weaknesses?<\/h3>\n

Victor stands at 7\u20194\u201d alongside weighing 230 pounds which is a not-so-good build given his gigantic height. His body weight has been a topic of discussion in the basketball world with scouts and pundits wondering how a 230-pound 19-year-old who happens to stand at 7\u20194\u201d would be able to go up against full grown-up players. As critics would want Wembanyama to bulk up fast, the weight issue is not a critical aspect as seen by how his trainer and agent responded to it. In an interview with ESPN, Bouna said;\u201d The weight will come over time, you know, but the focus on weight is — it’s a mistake. I’m 100 per cent sure on that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wembanyama\u2019s passing ability is also up for question as it has been seen to be a struggle on multiple occasions. His ball consistency is also questionable and his decision-making is also something that he could work on to hone his skills. His shooting reliability has improved over time and it seems to be a work in progress on perfecting his shot.<\/p>\n

While these might be some visible weaknesses the French prodigy could work on, his positive side outweighs all of them, The fact that Wembanyama is only 19 and nevertheless has a long way to go should be noted. He is already among the world’s most outstanding young players, and with the correct mentoring and growth, he can blossom into a tyrannical power at the highest level possible.<\/p>\n

Wembanyama can concentrate his development and training on those particular skills by pinpointing the areas where he must make improvements. As a result, he might become a more balanced player and have an advantage over opponents who might be more limited in their play style.
\nNevertheless, Wemby is destined for greatness and what he has achieved so far is a testimony to what is coming. His skills, size, wingspan, and potential present him to be a household name in the franchise he will land in and the general NBA. His journey would be captivating as he works on his weaknesses and morphs into one of the best players to ever play in the NBA.<\/p>\n
