 Tottenham sacks interim manager, Stellini<\/h3>\n

Tottenham has confirmed the departure of interim manager Cristian Stellini as their season reaches a new low.<\/p>\n

Stellini was only appointed last month after Antonio Conte was fired as manager due to a poor run of games. His old assistant, on the other hand, has been unable to change the tide, ending in a humiliating 6-1 defeat against Newcastle.<\/p>\n

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy confirmed the Italian’s and the coaching staff’s immediate dismissal. Ryan Mason is the club’s second interim head coach in as many months.<\/p>\n

Levy acknowledged he had liaised with players, who were behind the decision to change managers again, in an inflammatory statement that labeled Sunday’s performance as “wholly unacceptable.”<\/p>\n

The statement from Levy reads: \u201cSunday\u2019s performance against Newcastle was wholly unacceptable. It was devastating to see. We can look at many reasons why it happened and whilst I, the Board, the coaches, and the players must all take collective responsibility, ultimately the responsibility is mine.<\/p>\n

\u201cCristian will leave his current role along with his coaching staff. Cristian stepped in at a difficult point in our season and I want to thank him for the professional manner in which he and his coaching staff have conducted themselves during such a challenging time. We wish him and his team well.<\/p>\n

\u201cRyan Mason will take over Head Coach duties with immediate effect. Ryan knows the Club and the players well. We shall update further on his coaching staff in due course.<\/p>\n

\u201cI met with the Player Committee today – the squad is determined to pull together to ensure the strongest possible finish to the season. We are all clear we need to deliver performances that earn your amazing support.\u201d<\/p>\n

After losing on Tyneside, Jamie Carragher slammed the club and told them to “get a proper manager” for sticking with Stellini after replacing Conte.<\/p>\n

Mason will now be granted his second chance as caretaker manager, having previously assumed the role following Jose Mourinho’s resignation in 2021. During his first spell, the 31-year-old oversaw seven games, including the EFL Cup final, which they lost to Manchester City at Wembley.<\/p>\n

He won four games and lost three before being replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo, who was then replaced by Conte.<\/p>\n

Stellini on the other hand won just one of his four matches in charge, with damaging results against relegation strugglers Everton and Bournemouth denting their top-four hopes before the demolition by Newcastle. It means that Tottenham will, in all likelihood, miss out on Champions League football and the financial rewards which accompany qualification.<\/p>\n

A lack of elite European football may also stymie their hunt for a permanent replacement for Conte, with talks now underway for an appointment at the end of the season. Julian Nagelsmann is still in the running for the post, while Mauricio Pochettino has been mentioned – though he now appears poised to take over at Chelsea.<\/p>\n
